This cake is one I am particularly proud of: it’s SO much fun to make and tastes absolutely incredible. It’s got the right vibe for the Barbie film and I loved making – and eating – it. I hope you enjoy both Barbie the film and my Barbie inspired cake! Lift the disco ball by placing your hands underneath the cake, avoiding touching the fondant around the outside. The doll of Gosling's Ken also wore the distinguishable denim-on-denim ensemble featuring straight-leg pants and an open sleeveless vest to show off his washboard abs.

In fact, she and Baumbach may have tried to cram in too much: most obviously, there are three or four endings too many. But it's easy to forgive these excesses, because Barbie is one of the few recent Hollywood films to have more to them than is given away in the trailer, and one of the few that come across as complete, self-contained stories, rather than attempts to set up a long-running series of sequels. It may be a comedy about a mass-produced plastic doll, but Barbie breaks the mould. I coloured the buttercream pink (obviously) and allowed the jam between the layers to seep through to create a wonderful texture. That iconic Barbie ‘B’ is cut out from white sugar paste, which I did free hand whilst using a poster from the film as a guide. By all means use a template here if necessary! The pink hearts around the bottom are solid white chocolate that I tempered in the microwave and then coloured pink. Sit the disco ball cake evenly over the base cake, making sure that the cake is as central as possible and that the dowels pierce the disco ball, holding it in place. Five-car crash leaves two elderly women dead and three pensioners in hospital as 'drug driver', 51, is arrested It must say something serious about the state of Hollywood that one of the most feverishly anticipated US films of 2023 is Barbie, an authorised tie-in to a range of plastic dolls. And it must say something even more serious about the state of Hollywood that Barbie fully vindicates that feverish anticipation. Yes, we have reached the confusing point in showbusiness history where a two-hour toy commercial is more satisfying than most of the other big-screen entertainment being offered this year. It's not just a genuinely funny and warm-hearted live-action comedy – and there aren't many of those around these days – but an art-house passion project so bold, inventive and politically charged that it is sure to be nominated for all sorts of awards. Barbie as a best picture nominee at the 2024 Oscars? I wouldn’t bet against it.Her signature blond hair is styled just like Barbie’s in the feature film with glossy disco curls and a sheer hair piece. Smooth over the buttercream on the cake using a palette knife and use the tip of the knife to create a pattern. Using a piping bag or sandwich bag with a fun piping tip attached, pipe the remaining pink buttercream in swirls in various places on the cake. Do the same for the yellow (or whatever colour you chose) buttercream. I’ve not seen a film with this much anticipation and this much hype in the lead up to its release in… well, I’m not sure I can actually say I remember there being so much build up to a solo film. The marketing campaign alone is something to behold. My Barbie celebration cake is a winner for any Barbie and/or Ken. C’mon Barbie, let’s go party! About the film: While sporting the short-sleeved button-down and shorts, his Ken doll also donned crisp, white sneakers and carried a blue surfboard.

Football legend Terry Venables dies aged 80: Former England manager who led the team to Euro '96 semi-finals after a sparkling playing career with Chelsea, Tottenham and QPR, had suffered a 'long illness', his devastated family announce Inside Gaza as you have never seen before: Palestinians share footage of people swimming on the beach, shopping at markets and playing football in a rare glimpse of what life was really like in the city before October 7 My teenage son was indoctrinated by the trans cult from the classroom to the clinic: Mother left 'grieving' for the boy who revealed desire to become a girl... spurred on by 'activist teachers' Separate one egg so that the white is in a small bowl and the yolk is in another. Add the white to your butter and sugar. Repeat this with all 5 eggs just in case the yolk spills into the white. This way you avoid getting yolk in all of the egg whites. Keep the yolks for another dish or bake. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave. Do this in 20 second bursts, stirring in between until melted.

Add half of the flour with the baking powder and salt into your mix and beat gently until combined. Disco Barbie: The third look had her doll wearing a gold jumpsuit with metallic silver sequins as well as all of the same jewelry. Her doll also fashioned the same butterfly crown headpiece atop her bombshell waves as Robbie did in the movie And who could blame us? From what we've saw before the movie made it to cinemas (you know, the Insta pics and YouTube clips), the London-based costume designer Jaqueline Durran has had quite the blast creating the outfits for the film. We're so here for the references to the doll's OG '50s and '60s looks (we're talking gingham prints and retro silhouettes) alongside sportswear and disco references from the '80s. Press the white chocolate hearts around the base of the cake and the ‘B’ in the centre of the front of the base cake. It has to be up there with my favourite Barbie films, alongside Barbie as Rapunzel (2002), Barbie Swan Lake (2003) and Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper (2004).
