One could also add in a string of battery powered lights to add to the fun. In the first photo, the bottom green stuff is some kind of carver's tape. Don't recall where I bought it though. One of the online carving supply places. It's basically a thin gauze coated with some kind of rubber/latex. It takes a lot of wraps to make a thumb guard with it. The red stuff sold as Wimp Wrap by the Woodcraft Shop. It has a label inside that says Co-Flex by Andover. This material is impregnated with a "natural rubber latex." The brown stuff is latex free but I think it has some kind of rubbery coating, although not as much as the Wimp Wrap.
