I WAS NOT READY FOR THE ENDING … I still think I am not ready for the ending !!! The only thing I know … is that my need for book two is threatening to devour me !!!! The ending (where they confess their love and smash hard) felt rushed. Gideon still hadn’t told her anything about himself or his secrets, which has bothered Dex for some time. In the beginning, he also said he didn’t trust her enough to mention the ring, but then even when he does trust her he doesn’t mention it. At the end of the book, she reveals her secret as he is about to reveal his own, but it feels strange that they both only felt comfortable in doing this after having sex. It seems like something to do beforehand. My name is Dex. I am a thief, I am a killer and I will not break under the hands of men. I am the lost princess, and the one they call savior. but no one is getting saved. They're getting damned instead." When she unknowing binds herself to the most wanted man in the realm, a weapon that could destroy everything that the kings of this world have worked for. Everything her father has done to have the world he wants, looks like it may all come crumbling down around her. This book was quite the ride. I may be absolutely obsessed. The ending of the book left me a mess and so this review might frankly reflect the chaos of my mind.

And there is a brown Indian queen. I was screaming when she made descriptions of the saree. And I saw the art of Saeya and I was so happy with the south Asian representation !!!And the most infuriating part: even though it’s pretty obvious who Gideon actually is if you r Gideon is what makes this book like reallll hot🔥Not only does this push forth a heavy and tense enemies to lovers…Gideon plays a role that I haven’t ever seen yet in a fantasy. He’s there but…he’s also not. (If you know, you know 😉 Dex, definitely added to my list of favorite FMCs. The way she's so unapologetically herself, I love it. Her confidence, her belief in herself & her abilities. There's obviously moments she has self doubts, where everything she's feeling weighs heavily on her, but she keeps going with so much hope that maybe... somehow things could be better? With a curse & a prophecy that puts the odds against her, she keeps going with her wit & strength. Her sarcasm & sass though? That made me adore her even more because both are my coping mechanisms in life. The main male character was … my freaking goodness I don’t think I have words to describe that man. Frustrating as hell, hot and of course absolutely handsome but with the ability to get you bothered one second and swooning the next!!!!

Another note: in general the book needs a lot of editing. Not only were there many grammatical errors and oddly worded sentences, but also some inconsistencies and story lines that could use some proofing (there's mention of a stalker early on and then we hear nothing else about it; I think it either needs to be abandoned or fleshed out more in this installment, if it's going to be meaningful later in the series). One thing in particular that sat oddly was that one character is described having a feature specifically associated with a religion that doesn't exist in this fictional world. I think a good editing would maybe adapt it or give it context that makes its existence in a fantasy setting more acceptable. Also, a bit lost on how the "Sanctum" part of the title has anything to do with this part of the installment. During the day: If you have a flexible schedule, you may find it helpful to take breaks during the day to read a book. Gods, I should have gone home with her, even if just for one measly morning. Despite her silky-smooth skin, the rugged edge of her jaw tells me that whatever she does beneath the sheets would go down in history.» (Dex)

The Shadow of Mendeln appears and summons waves of undead, with later waves having many champion/elite enemies - they have a chance to drop Splinter of the Void. First let me just say that I love when the author includes a trigger warning list at the beginning of the book as well as a pronunciation guide !!!! And don’t let me even start on the map !!! It is GORGEOUS !!! Once her power is revealed to those who wish to destroy her, there’s no telling whether death will follow in her wake, or love. All Althea knows is that there are secrets she will have to take to her grave, or the people she loves will die. A lot about the past isn’t explained. It’s said that the gods were killed, but how is that even possible if they’re gods? Some king killed them, but how is he strong enough to do that? It’s said that these gods literally created the world. It's mentioned that the king is now kind of worshipped as a god, but that's not really expanded upon either. Coming to the book, it's boring. Up untill the last 10% of the book, I was bored out of my mind and wanted to dnf. The story feels like narration of a book with a deadpan voice. The idea or the plot should naturally hold mystery or anticipation, but there was none of that. I would've liked her to get caught one time and her plan not working out.

As they delve deeper into the mysteries of their world, Mirella and Verity uncover a dark conspiracy that threatens to destroy everything they hold dear. With the help of their allies, they must race against time to stop the forces of evil before it’s too late. Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep. Gideon. GIDEON. Everyone just needs to be nice to this big bad sweet monstrous man. HE CANT HELP IT. I love him. He’s such a GRUMP but has these cute little moments where he shows emotion and does these sweet considerate things for Dex. You can really see that he also struggles with this internal conflict. My heart breaks for him and melts all at once.

The starting and ending was fine, the middle was so frustrating that well, i dont wanna be more rude. The action in this was astounding. The brutality of some of the scenes was terrifying and I let out plenty of gasps, but it all adds to the beauty of the story. We get Gideon's POV the first time and he already has feelings and they've had 0 real conversation. The romance in this book is just.... no. No chemistry between the characters. He just falls in love with her and there is not mention or even an insinuation about her feelings towards him but then suddenly woohoo surprise "I love you" after they kiss for the first time. Zian Schafer writes a fresh, tantalizing fantasy that is going to have readers on the edge of their seats from first word to last. It takes a lot for me to truly give a fantasy five stars. But this novel felt so new and fresh with some amazing characters that you are sure to fall in love with.
