We want to reduce the health and care inequalities that autistic people face throughout their lives, and to show that autistic people are living healthier and longer lives.

Franklin, Anita, Toft, Alex and Goff, Sarah (2019) Parents' and carers' views on how we can work together to prevent the sexual abuse of disabled children: "You fear everything that is out of your control. This response will discuss employer needs, including information and advice on health and disability that is easier to find and act upon, with design work this year to develop an improved support offer for employers. Adults who work with children and young people with SEND should be aware of the additional needs children may have that could mean they are more vulnerable to abuse and/or less able to speak out if something isn’t right. Dame Cheryl, who died in April 2021, was instrumental in tackling the inequalities autistic adults face, when, in 2009, she brought forward the Private Member’s Bill on autism. We will set measures of success for each of the priority areas in the strategy to make sure we can effectively monitor progress in year one and beyond, being clear about what we expect to achieve by 2026. To improve the availability of these services we will promote guidance on planning and commissioning provision for autistic children and young people as outlined in chapter 6.
