Supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista 32/64-bit, Windows 7, Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.12.1.

Parallel cables are much faster than serial cables but they are bulkier, more expensive and prone to signaling errors like crosstalk, especially over longer distances.

Serial cables can also be used to connect two DTEs together but the pins must be wired so transmitter pins are connected to receiver pins. Cables that use this "crossover" wiring are known as null modem cables.

Introduced in 1975, the RS-422 standard was intended as a replacement for RS-232C. It used lower voltages and differential signaling to support faster data transmission, longer cable lengths and reduced RF/EMI noise. It specified the same DB25 connector as the original RS-232 standard. Yes, a RS232 to USB converter does have a full-blown UART circuit built-in. As any standard UART, it does have Rx, Tx, and flow control pins. As any UART, it must be properly configured to be able to communicate with the "partner" at the other end of UART link. Connect RS232 device into any USB port on your laptop/computer. Allow 20+- seconds for Windows to attempt to install drivers automatically. The RS-485 standard was published in 1983 and is substantially similar to the earlier RS-422 standard. The big difference is support for multiple transmitters and receivers, allowing devices connected on an RS-485 network to "talk amongst themselves" in half-duplex mode over inexpensive twisted pair cabling. RS-485 describes the electrical characteristics of the drivers and receivers but does not specify a communication protocol. You just easily hook the cable into PC or Hub’s port, and it can connect any RS-232 devices, such as PDA, scanner, printer etc. Bear in mind that some devices may need an additional software for proper operation. Point-to-Point – a connection between two devices in which bits are transmitted sequentially, one at a time.

Standard RS232 cables connect a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) such as a desktop computer to a DCE (Data Communications Equipment), typically a modem, printer or special-purpose peripheral. These "straight through" serial cables connect pins on the sending device to the same pins on the receiving device (e.g. pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2 and so on). Verify RS232 device is connected to COM PORT number between 1 to 4. This is a MUST, else it will not work.Eaton's Keyspan RS232 to USB converter (Model Number USA-19HS) is widely recommended by serial device manufacturers for its compatibility and reliability. However in 95% of cases, it will fail to automatically install the drivers. So you have to install drivers manually. If install STILL failed to install the drivers or above "Prolific..." device has a yellow triangle next to it, then: Install the driver file from the disc that came with the RS232 Device. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 2012 R2, Windows 2016, Windows 2008 R2 Connect RS232 device into any USB port. This time Windows will auto-install the drivers. You can verify a correct install going to Device Manager. Here's how... Windows Vista/7/8/10:
