Description

Included are enough components to build an Alchomite Stack (a series of chimneys evoking the thick, acrid atmosphere of industry), a Ferrotonic Furnace (an enormous silo filled with toxic chemicals or worse) and 2 sets of Plasma Conduits. The Sector Mechanicus Killzone Environment is an expansion for Kill Team – in the packed box, you’ll find a gameboard, scenery, and exclusive rules that use the unique nature of Sector Mechanicus terrain to introduce dangerous new missions and powerful effects to your games. An 8-page booklet describing the Sectors Mechanicus, with an example of a fully-painted scenery set. I’m kind of a sucker for campaign and narrative content – if not to actually use then to pilfer for my own campaigns – and I was interested to see if this book did anything new or interesting with the Killzones concept.

And then there are even more parts, like small wall pieces that are added to the sides of the floor tiles to give cover, along with further ladders and floor plates to support the connected floor tiles (I didn't use them, to stay modular). In this unboxing and build review, I continue with the terrain kits after the Sector Imperialis Basilicanum and move forward to the Killzone: Sector Mechanicus. If you’re a fan of the Killzones rules-wise and missed one of the boxed sets when they initially released (the most likely miss in your collection is the Sector Sanctoris, which had the weakest collection of terrain), then this will give you those rules in a nice collected volume. If you have received a product that has a manufacturing fault, which includes missing items from within a box/blister, then you must notify us of it within 12 months of receipt of your goods. Each box contains enough scenery to populate a Kill Zone battlefield or can be used to expand your selection of terrain for larger games of Warhammer 40k. As usual, they’d have been better off creating a small set of well thought-out rules that are always on for a killzone. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

One size matches the Sector Imperialis from the Kill Team starter kit and the other one the Sector Mechanicus design. These should be the backbone of a cool narrative campaign but they’re also hamstrung by the fact that Kill Team’s campaign rules are just complete garbage and feel like a tacked-on afterthought at best.

Killzone: Sector Mechanicus is a Environment Expansion set for the Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, Second Edition (2018). If these sound really cool well I don’t disagree — there’s some cool ideas here and lots of things that seem really neat! This is a common issue I have with GW’s attempts at making battlezones/killzones/battlefield effects and it’s present here. These are over the ground pipelines for plasma, what you can see below is included two times in the box.

Most of these interact directly with the terrain features, such as being able to swing the crane at someone (which rules), though some are more generic or apply to specific specialisms, such as Comms specialists on Wall of Martyrs killzones being able to impact rolls to end the game. Mould lines were moderate, on the larger pieces rather easy to clean but the cables and tubes took more time due to the surface.
