The good news is, it plays games fantastically and I’m blown away that I can play games like Fallout 4 with mods at 60fps on a handheld device. This is the future and I be damned if it’s not good :) Next we have Cinebench which tests the CPU to see its performance with either single or multi-core tests. In our multi-core tests we got scores of 11501, 11507, 10991. The 32/2TB model lags behind here in the tests. 3DMark

The factory installed 2TB version SSD is PCI Gen. 4 compared to the PCI Gen. 3 installed by DroiX. This fact is also not mentioned when purchasing and no option for a Gen. 4 PCI SSD is given tot the customer to choose. At 15W TDP we got an average frames per second of 71, at 20W we got 87 and at 30W we got 94. At 1600P at 30W we got a very impressive 48 FPS average, some previous handhelds were struggling to get that at 720P! Cyberpunk 2077 The device / controller rumble is annoying and far from immersive as they claim. It's more like a mosquito than a rumble and I find it highly annoying so try to disable it in game wherever possible. It’s our highest FPS by far on a handheld, the next closest was the ONEXPLAYER Mini 5800U at 88 FPS. Street FIghter V Both Ryujinx and Yuzu emulators are still in active development so performance and compatibility can change from day to day. We tried a few different games and overall there is good performance. Final ThoughtsYou can find in the table below the 32GB/1TB model 15W, 20W and 30W TDP results at 800P and 1600P resolutions. They are all very impressive and it definitely gives you options depending on the games you are playing whether to run low or high TDP and what screen resolution. Fallout 4, Skyrim (enhanced edition), Prey, Far Cry 5 and the more recently released Outer Worlds. All have worked great when you find their sweet spot and 60fps low to medium settings is not out of the question. On the recently released Metal Hellsinger we are running on the Medium graphics settings and are hovering around the 60 frames per second area. There were some occasional dips but nothing that affected the gameplay. Lower settings help keep it stable, or you can limit to 30 and crank the graphics up higher. Emulator Tests As expected everything we tried works great on PlayStation 2. You can lower the TDP and/or increase the screen rendering for higher quality visuals. In our temperatures, fan noise and battery tests we are running Street Fighter 6 on a loop to get the required measurements. We got a highest temperature of 62 degrees and 62 decibels of fan noise under full load. The battery lasted just over 2 hours which is a nice improvement on the 1 hour 45 on the Ryzen 7 model. And while idle on the desktop it managed just under 9 hours, a little longer than the Ryzen 7 model. The fewer cores and threads probably help there. Benchmarks Do a full scan for malware with Microsoft defender. It should catch whatever worm or virus if any. Or just reinstall OS if you aren't lazy like me.If you fancy delving into the past you can play your retro game ROMs, that you definitely own! You can use emulator frontends such as RetroArch or individual emulators such as RPCS3 for PlayStation 3. By adding your own ROMs you can capture the past in the present day and play all of your favourites from your GPD WIN MAX 2 2023. In AMD software the ram memory has 6400mts instead of the advertised 7500mts...maybe an AMD sw issue. Powering the GPD WIN MAX 2 is a 67Wh Li-polymer battery providing up to 14 hours of light use, 6-8 hours moderate use and 3 hours of heavy use. In our own tests on the handheld we ran Cinebench on full load at maximum brightness and got 2 hours 5 minutes. Below are the system benchmark comparisons for 30W TDP. You can see on PassMark that the faster 2TB makes a difference in the score as it includes disk performance tests, But the 2TB model does fall behind in the other tests. The two 1TB models have very similar scores across the other tests. Both gaming consoles that the Dolphin emulator work just fine. We did not see any slowdowns at all with games running on both consoles. You can lower the TDP if needed to save some battery life. Xbox OG – Xemu
