It should be mentioned that the Superlux HD-681 headphones only deliver a small amount of sound isolation in each direction, which means that they are not the optimum choice for FOH applications. I don't have a higher end set up to compare them to, as the only other headphones I own are Sennheiser PX100's, PX200's, and [size=12.

It's fairly neutral sounding, besides the overexaggerated highs, and many won 't even mind the highs. It makes the sound of cymbals and S sounds quite piercing and harsh on music that is not very well recorded and generally pushes cymbals too forward. This change is a certainly welcome one as the old pads acted as two pressure points on top of the head creating an uncomfortable experience; the band distributes the pressure on top evenly. The filter can be built and used separately , as an interface between the headphone and the music source.

In terms of comfort the only real upside is the fact the new EVOs come with an extra set of velour pads. Other than the fact of warming up, they are super comfortable since they are light and easily adjustable to your head. Some time ago I tried foobar just to see what was it about but it didnt work much for me, it has somehow clustered UI, but maybe I will try it again. If you plan to do one of the many mods to them be VERY CAREFUL opening them up, the internal wires are very delicate.

Bass tracks in rock music are certainly highlighted, though they aren’t forward enough to interfere with the guitar and vocals, for the most part. Right from the get-go, the HD 681s impressive soundstage makes evident intricate panning on guitars, drums, strings and vocals. Without music playing you are able to tell what is going on in the room and even with music, if you have a television playing in the same room, you will be able to hear it all. Unfortunately, I put it back in its box after listening to it for an hour because I found the mid-bass a bit too muddy. The company employs experienced specialists and produces its articles at various locations in its own factories in China and Taiwan, where the products are developed, tested, and manufactured under one roof.yesterday i made my headphone loose enough that i just realised i've made some gaps between my head and the pad (back ear area), resulting less deep and underpowering bass. Again, though, the imaging and positioning of the rest of instruments might make one forget about that intimacy. Quantity-wise, the HD 681s have less bass than mainstream headphones like Skullcandies or even audiophile endorsed headphones like the previously mentioned Audio-Technica ATH-M50s. If they live up to the hype (waiting for Jude to publish his measurements), I'll be getting a pair to see if they can replace my LCD-2F (2016 drivers), which I like a lot but require EQ for neutral response. It’s easy to dismiss such cheap headphones as a joke, not suitable for any serious studio use, but they’re surprisingly capable headphones.

Who would have ever thought that cans that cost 20~ bucks could sound pretty good, well some how Superlux did it and this is the result. You can also read on the black on black letters “professional monitor” which would let us know that these are good for studio monitoring. i thought the bass of HD 681 is kinda more and stronger but, i didnt sense that once i tried DTX710, MDR-A1, MDR-100AAP. It’s hard to tell how much better the EVO sounds without the HD681 to compare at the moment, but from memory the sound is very similar. After playing around with an EQ, I mostly adjusted the 5k and up, by simple lowering them more and more the higher up I advanced in frequencies.

In noisy surroundings these headphones do not provide adequate isolation, so they would be more suited to applications in quiet environments. They come with two pairs of pads, the faux leather ones that already come with the headphones aren't very good) I've mixed on these headphones for over 5 hours in a row with only mild discomfort. You get quite balanced, not overly emphasized bass with way better sub bass extension, however, the high frequency boost is more pronounced and harsh. The mids aren’t really where the Superlux headphones shine, mostly because they are the shadow of some really sparkly treble, but they are able to reproduce vocals decently well. The Superlux HD681 features an open-back design, 50 mm dynamic drivers (whThe manufacturer needs to increase quality control, despite the fact that these are one of the cheapest headphones. This isn’t a huge problem though, I’ve only noticed it in a handful of tracks and none of those were mixed particularly well.
