Description

ELMB-Sync can be used at the same time as variable refresh rate or at a fixed refresh rate (120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz or 270Hz).

When it comes to color fidelity, this display shines in its own right. It has a DCI-P3 97 percent, which is a little far from the required level for accuracy, but it does give rich and vibrant colors on the other hand. The XG27AQ ships with a calibration report, but we found a better image with a few adjustments. The native color gamut is DCI-P3 which is covered over 91% and hits its targets closely. Grayscale is a bit warm by default but easily aligned with the RGB sliders. Gamma is slightly light in tone but rides close to 2.2. An sRGB mode is included which delivers similar accuracy but is not adjustable. It does successfully reduce the color gamut though. Below are our recommended SDR settings. However, if you’re using a variable refresh rate (AMD FreeSync Premium or NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible), you’ll have to change to overdrive level according to your frame rate: In addition, they introduced the HDR 400 function, which will increase the overall contrast and deepen the darks. The most important part is that you can change the overdrive when using a variable refresh rate, so you’ll always be able to get the optimal performance. The monitor also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) and has VESA’s entry-level DisplayHDR 400 certification.

The input panel includes two HDMI 2.0 ports which can be used for consoles running at up to 120 Hz with adaptive sync and HDR, or up to 144 Hz with a PC. The single DisplayPort 1.2 accommodates 170 Hz signals with G-Sync or FreeSync and HDR. Audio is supported by a 3.5mm headphone output and two internal 2-watt speakers which play at polite volumes in the upper midrange frequencies. OSD Features of Asus ROG Strix XG27AQAnother strength of the ASUS XG27AQM IPS monitor is the 178° wide viewing angles, which ensure that the image is flawless regardless of the angle you’re looking at the screen; the colors remain consistent across the entire screen at all times, which in addition to the precise Delta ≤ 2 factory-calibration makes the monitor fit for professional color-critical work. The ASUS XG27AQM is a 27-inch display with a 2K resolution (2560 x 1440), indicating that this is a hybrid option while also significantly increasing the monitor’s PPI, resulting in sharp and clear pictures. While the ultrawide version has a sturdy design, this one focuses on the gaming vibes, with a large ROG STRIX logo on the top right corner of the display and some features going through on the right half. By default, the brightness in the sRGB mode amounts to ~150-nits, which might be too bright for use in dark rooms, or not bright enough in well-lit rooms.

Although this figure is a consequence of the HDR support, we can’t dispute that it is a high-end feature. The Asus XG27AQM is an excellent gaming monitor with the right design and features to help you maximize your competitive experience. It’s crazy fast and it is vibrant, so games will look smooth and eye-popping all the time. The overall aesthetic isn’t always a hit, but its solid build and reliable materials will ensure that it lasts quite a while.Variable refresh rate is supported with both AMD’s FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA’s G-SYNC Compatible certifications within the 48-270Hz range for tear-free gameplay. These eye-catching design features, in my opinion, are quite important in judging the display as a gaming monitor just by looking at it. Moving on, the ASUS XG27AQM monitor has a 350-nit peak brightness, so it can get more than bright enough under normal lighting conditions. There are various variations, such as the games you wish to play, but it can all be boiled down to the above-mentioned issue. Continuing our review of Asus monitors of the week, today we have another model from the ROG STRIX series, this time featuring gaming and picture quality capabilities, as well as a few salty pricing.
