Both discs are very different from Elite Entertainment’s, my preferred version, and the one approved by Sam Raimi. Oh, and there are also little easter eggs of a make-up test and footage from an Evil Dead screening, plus an 8-page booklet. Although again it is ostensibly a matted widescreen frame, you actually see more on every side as if the entire frame is zoomed out, although this varies marginally from shot to shot.

Update 12/29/18: And right on the heels of Evil Dead's 4K release, Lions Gate has put out an Evil Dead 2 UHD. This was actually the first 'Book Of The Dead' style home release anywhere in the world; in July 19, 2001.This release also comes with some interesting new extras, a couple of which can only be found in this box-set. The full screen version on the UK box-set is the same transfer as was used on the earlier Anchor Bay 1-5 picture disc DVD releases, and has the Cheryl zoom tweak, but the lightning shot has been put back in.

Then Anchor Bay took the wheel again in 2002, releasing the 20th Anniversary edition, which had the Elite extras, more and introduced the world to widescreen 1. This should have an unedited running time of 37m 38s, meaning about ten minutes of footage has been removed.This would probably have been done for technical reasons, such as source print damage, or on-set equipment which would have been visible otherwise.
