Description

In the overcast opening scenes of Deadpool, the red of Deadpool’s costume looks well saturated and accurate when you view it straight-on and stays balanced when you view it from the side. In the burning lab fight, the flames look bright and relatively varied with different yellows and oranges, while shadow details come through clearly in the same frames as the fire. The Rec.709 HD colour gamut results are very good indeed for an out of the box preset and DeltaE errors are well below the visible threshold of three. This level of accuracy for a mid-range TV is excellent with absolutely no issues visible within TV and film content. Colours appear natural with superb lifelike skin tones. Out of the box, the Hisense U7QF is impressive. ARRAffinity cookie is set by Azure app service, and allows the service to choose the right instance established by a user to deliver subsequent requests made by that user. For 2023, the U7 Series will receive considerable enhancements. The dimming zones have increased by more than a factor of 10 (55" (65"x7.5) compared to previous year thanks to the newly incorporated Mini-LED technology. The U7 produces the most accurate, lifelike, and colourful images with to Quantum Dot technology, an improved 144Hz screen, a complete HDR solution, and Dolby Vision. Along with these groundbreaking picture improvements, the U7 also delivers powerful and immersive sound with a 2.1 channel speaker system with a built-in subwoofer. Along with the updated 144Hz VRR panel, the U7 also offers 144Hz Game Mode Pro, which combines connectivity (HDMI2.1 eArc) with industry-leading technology (AMD Freesync Premium) to give you the winning gaming recipe. This mode is now available up to an amazing 85-inch screen size. Once you turn the lights down, more issues surrounding the FALD and LCD technology become apparent with more blooming noticeable around things like subtitles and bright objects like white spaceships against the darkness of space. It is possible to mitigate against some of these issues and making sure your viewing environment is suitable for this type of TV display will help.

There are plenty of Mini LED solutions that mainly have the same features, but slightly different brightness and HDR tone mapping on offer. Buy It Direct Ltd is a limited company registered in England. Registered number 04171412. Registered office: Unit A Trident Business Park, Leeds Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD2 1UA. The U7 includes a built-in Sub-Woofer that delivers strong and robust low-end frequencies to assist highlight the advantages of Dolby Atmos & DTS Virtual X and provide a really engaging audio experience that you can feel. Moving to the Rec.709 HD colour gamut results and with the white point corrected we also have a near reference result with just two small errors seen on the graph. However, our DeltaE errors are an average of 1.73, so well below the visible threshold of three and we couldn’t see any issues with TV and film viewing. These are impressive SDR results from the Hisense. There are several settings and processor modes that you can use to try to find a balance that works but, ultimately, none of them fully solve the underlying problem. It’s a shame because there are some good things about this TV’s picture performance.Switch to standard-def content from the built-in tuner and the Hisense copes much better, largely because the higher frame rate of the signal requires less processing from the TV, and the motion smearing issue is almost gone. The tv was incredibly simple to set up and using it couldn’t be easier. Even my parents found it easier to use especially as they could ask Alexa to open apps/channels if they struggle to find them. Mini LED with Quantum Dot Experience colour like never before. Hisense TVs are capable of reproducing over one billion different shades of colour, allowing you to enjoy colour in its most authentic and genuine form. We are testing a 65-inch Hisense U7K which has been provided to us for review by Hisense UK. It was a brand-new unopened example. The picture quality should be similar for the other screen sizes available in the range.

Subtitle and audio description information spoken on the electronic programme guide more info panel The U7 Series is getting significant upgrades for 2023. The newly added Mini-LED technology increases the dimming zones compared to last year by more than a factor of 10 (55" (65"x7.5). Game Mode Pro automatically fires up when a gaming connection is detected through ALLM, providing you with the pinnacle in gaming enjoyment. With 144Hz VRR experience the smoothest possible game play enhanced further with ultra low input lag. Image tearing and stuttering are also a thing of the past thanks to AMD Freesync Premium, specifically created to deliver the most responsive and detailed experience yet. This TV has a problem with motion when watching 24fps content. Unfortunately, that includes most film and premium TV, whether played from a disc or streamed from a service such as Netflix, or through a media streamer. The Hisense U7QF is a very good midrange LED LCD that uses Quantum Dot technology and also has Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and HDR10 capabilities along with Dolby Atmos sound onboard. The smart TV system is intuitive and fast with a decent selection of apps as well as Freeview Play and all the UK catch-up services. Gaming input lag is also decent at 17ms but it doesn’t have all the HDMI 2.1 goods for VRR or ALLM.The greens of plants in BBC’s Planet Earth II look natural and varied, as do the blues of the sky and water. Fine detail like fur comes through clearly in a variety of lighting situations, with direct sunlight looking properly bright and shade looking dark and clear. Colors stay fairly accurate when you view the TV from off-angles, but the contrast visibly diminishes and causes the picture to look a bit washed out. The U8H also has some color fade with off-angle viewing, but this effect isn’t quite as prominent. Color performance is excellent, and in line with the similarly impressive range and accuracy from the Hisense U6H and U8H. The above charts show the U8H’s color levels in Filmmaker mode with an SDR signal compared against Rec.709 broadcast standards, and with an HDR signal compared against DCI-P3 digital cinema standards. SDR colors are nearly perfect, with greens just a touch oversaturated. Magentas and yellows also run just slightly warm, but not to a significant degree. HDR colors cover almost the entire DCI-P3 color space. Greens fall just slightly short, while cyans and magentas skew a bit green and red respectively. In both cases, the white balance in Filmmaker Mode is just about perfect. Out of the box, the colors on the U7H are excellent, with whites that are more spot-on than the U8H but with a slightly lower color range. As always, we factory reset the Hisense U7K and then measured the picture presets to find which is the most accurate to the industry standards, out of the box, so we can view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. The best picture preset for this is Filmmaker Mode (FMM), which tries to follow the industry standards to view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. If you want more of the same but with improved local dimming and more dynamic range, then the Hisense U8K is more expensive but does offer a little more performance and we’ll have a review available as soon as we get one in. Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output

Watching the BBC news in Full HD, the close-ups of the in-studio correspondents are good, there’s reasonable upscaled skin detail and colour balance and vibrancy throughout the picture remains strong. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. It allows you to connect your device to a monitor or TV and is able to transmit Full HD video and audio. Subtitles and audio description information displayed on electronic programme guide programme bannerThat’s a lot of screen real estate for affordable pricing, so the performance needs to live up to the promise, a promise last year’s UK units disingenuously squandered by carrying the same SKU numbers as more impressive global models from the company before revealing themselves as under-specced. Hisense has publicly stated that this year’s U7K model is the same TV worldwide with the same features and performance. The 65-inch TV we are reviewing is a set provided by Hisense UK. It is available in screen sizes of 50- (50U7QFTUK), 55- (55U7QFTUK) and 65- (65U7QFTUK) inches. We are reviewing the 55-inch version, but the performance between the different screen sizes should be similar. Considering it's one of Hisense’s top-end TVs, there's no getting around the fact that the 55U7QFTUK is a disappointment. There’s some careful shading of these parts of the picture and some decent light and dark detail. The depth and solidity to the image is enhanced by the Dolby Vision Dark picture mode, which gives added subtlety to Dolby Vision content. If you want much better input lag, you need to spend substantially more. The LG C2 and Samsung QN90B have 1.5ms and 1.4ms latency, respectively, but they can also easily cost twice as much as the U7H.

Rounding-up on the performance side of things is the gaming capabilities of the U7QF which are decent, with input lag coming in at 17ms in both SDR and HDR modes as measured by the Murideo Seven Generator. HDR gaming was also good, however, there are no HDMI 2.1 features available on the Hisense like VRR or ALLM. There are no real shortages of LCD TVs on the market, but Mini LED tech is still fairly new and at the higher end of the market. You also want a set that handles all the available HDR formats, Dolby and dts audio as well as at least two HDMI 2.1 ports, gaming features like VRR, eARC for use with a soundbar and decent Smarts. With Mini-LED HDR 1000, Quantum Dot technology, an upgraded 144Hz panel and a total HDR solution including Dolby Vision, the U7 delivers the most detailed, lifelike, and vivid images. In addition to these break through picture developments, the U7 also doesn't disappoint when it comes to powerful and immersive sound with its 2.1 channel speaker system with a built-in sub woofer.Motion is decent on the U7K with no obvious issues encountered playing 24fps material which is displayed with the correct pulldown applied, and 50Hz broadcast is also decent with no obvious frame skipping or micro stutters seen. Adding in motion interpolation and the U7K does look smooth, but there are also visible artefacts seen around fast-moving objects. Soap Opera Effect is also seen when using any of the modes that add interpolation. Ultimately, there are far better TVs available for this sort of money, such as the Panasonic TX-58HX800, which give us very little reason to recommend this Hisense.
