Midleton came from Midleton Distillery and was crafted in honour of the Master Distiller Emeritus Barry Crockett. Bushmills can proudly claim to be the oldest licensed distillery in the world and is one of Ireland’s best and most popular blends of single malt whiskies.

The most common cask type used in most international whiskey — including Canadian, scotch and Irish — is used bourbon barrels. It makes a fine whiskey drink (try it in an old fashioned) and isn’t likely to offend with coke, ginger ale or seven-up. Even though it is far easier for me to get a bottle of it now than it was then… I can’t see me reaching for it any time soon.In 2016, Pernod Ricard sold the Paddy brand to Sazerac, a privately held American firm for an undisclosed fee. These large copper pots heat the alcoholic beer-like wash to the point where the alcohol vaporizes away from the non-alcoholic liquids and rises to the Lyne arm before reaching a condenser where it is cooled back into a liquid state. Further, it is relatively light and can make for the perfect starting point for any budding whiskey connoisseur. Compared with other Irish whiskeys, Paddy has a comparatively low pot still content and a high malt content in its blend.

The fictional ‘The Paddy Post and Press’ newspaper print included a bio of the namesake salesman who built a name for himself in the industry. In addition, it included a full page of news copy, complete with ads and even a sports piece about hurling. Now, producers could utilize a modern approach and an energy-efficient technique to reduce the costs of spirits production.

This is the go-to drink of choice for the majority of whiskey drinkers as, not only is it a well-known brand, but it offers an extremely smooth taste with vanilla and nutty flavours. And if you find yourself drinking whiskey at your favorite pub and in need of an Irish kick — these two brands are a perfect choice. Welcome to our Irish whiskey introduction to two powerhouse brands: Jameson and Paddy Irish whiskeys.

Palate: The palate is sweet and of medium-body with toffee and cereals, a rosewater note with a little butterscotch and vanilla. O’Flaherty, better known as Paddy, sold what became his namesake whiskey in pubs across Ireland for an incredible four decades, spanning the turn of the 20th century. An approachable Irish whiskey comprised of a triple-distilled blend of grain, malt and pot-still, Paddy is mild and yet crisp, with a hint of honey. It lacks the heavy caramel notes of Powers and the tropical fruits of Jameson, but makes up for those deficiencies with complexity (earthiness) and fewer vodka-esque “cheap grain” notes.
