Those eyes. They didn’t just appear dark – there was something more in those depths, something lurking and guarded, calculating. They were windows into an intelligent mind, and right now they were analyzing Bruce. He had the strange sensation that she was memorizing everything about him, that she could read his thoughts.” Me? Sarcastic?" Alfred sniffed, the barest hint of a smile appearing on his lips. "It's as if you think I'm British." Then we have Nightwalker's Bruce Wayne, who's considerate and fair-minded and pure... and basically everything Batman isn't supposed to be. (#NotMyChristianGrey #NotMyBruceWayne) Writing has the same issue as Wonder Woman: Warbringer. Descriptions are delivered as though lifted straight from a comic panel. I want to read a book, not a novelization of another medium.

But don't get me wrong, I still liked the book even though it couldn't keep up with the first one. I especially loved Marie Lu's writing style. This book was so well written and I definitely have to read some of her other books now! On her first night in Gotham City, Melanie went to Juice Bar, but didn't go in because she didn't know anybody. She observed Terry McGinnis and Dana Tan's spat from outside; when he left the bar, she approached him, and the two bonded. While Terry complained about his undisclosed "after-school" job with Bruce Wayne, Melanie noted how tiresome her itinerant life was. She also observed a parallel between herself and Terry, and expressed her infatuation by planting a kiss on his lips. However, Terry wasn't too eager to go so fast, so the two arranged a date on the next night, at the same place. I think bc it’s such a well known brand there doesn’t need much building on the world or characters but marie lu didn’t cut corners here, I feel like she really gave each part their due time and paced it really well Killer Moth appears in Teen Titans Go! (2013), voiced by Scott Menville. This version has a base underneath the Jump City Bridge. Several more villains using the moniker of "Killer Moth" have appeared since Drury Walker's death but all of them have only made a few appearances with Drury Walker returning to the role. New 52So why did I say all of that? I felt it was important for you to see where my mind is when I was reading this book. edited@08/05/2019: Guess what........I've been soaking myself in Batman online fanfics for months and I swear to the BatGod that I'd read plenty of better written, closer-to-canon-fanfics with better-constructed characters, better-plotted romances and much deeper understanding to the characters' mentalities than this... and those good fanfic writers have never charged me anything for their good works. Sorry about this, Marie Lu. But I just don't believe you can outdo and outshine Frank Miller, Jeph Loeb, Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, etc.

Overall, I was satisfied with my reading experience of Batman: Nightwalker and am super excited for the upcoming books in this series. Once again, I’d like to thank JM and Penguin Random House for choosing me as a part of this blog tour. I hope to participate in many more! Killer Moth appeared in two episodes of Teen Titans as a criminal who used mutated moths to commit crimes, and was comically undercut by his demanding daughter, Kitten. He was played by Thomas Haden in his first appearance, " Date With Destiny", and by Marc Worden in his second appearance, " Can I Keep Him?" The BatmanTension grew as King failed to provide for his family with the same lifestyle they had been used to. Queen constantly compared King to her father, the former leader of the Gang, whom she held in high esteem. Tired of being berated and diminished in comparison to his predecessor, King decided to quit. The perfect chance presented itself when the Gang was hired by Paxton Powers to steal precious artifacts. At some point, King had become acquainted with Paxton's personal assistant Sable Thorpe, and the two cavorted and conspired to poach Paxton's illegal priceless collection. My problem with all of this? I mean, how often can the world end just to be saved by some dude in a special suit? The clichés that make up a Superman movie are uncountable. Marie Lu strikes again with her amazing execution of a rather perfect retelling of Batman. I have been fascinated with Marie Lu’s writing ever since I read The Young Elites (and yes, I have yet to read the Legend trilogy) and the writing of this book had all the dark allure of Gotham with a rather charming version of 18 year old Bruce Wayne. In deleted material meant for issue 15 of the tie-in comic Batman Adventures, Walker is killed by a robotic doppelganger of Mr. Freeze made by Nora Fries's new husband, Francis D'Anjou, to frame Victor Fries. [2]

Walker refers to his theme park designers and builders as his "Visioneers", a reference to Disney's "Imagineers". Bruce could only look on. How did she know that? Had she heard it in his tone, his words? "What do you mean by that?" he asked her, but she was no longer paying attention to him. Her chest rose and fell evenly, as if she had decided to go to sleep.

Major Story Arcs

The original Killer Moth was a prisoner identified only by his prison number, 234026. [3] While in prison, he reads a newspaper article about Batman and decides to set himself up as the "anti-Batman", hiring himself out to Gotham City's criminals to help them elude capture by police. Upon his release, he uses the hidden proceeds of his crimes to build a "Mothcave", modeled on the photos of the Batcave in the newspaper article he read. Killer Moth also establishes a false identity as millionaire philanthropist Cameron van Cleer. In this guise, he becomes friends with Bruce Wayne. [4] Meanwhile, he promotes himself to Gotham's criminals using his identity as Killer Moth, giving them each an infrared Moth-Signal. In his first job, he rescues some criminals from the police and then uses his Mothmobile to defeat and capture Batman and Robin. The duo escape and lead Killer Moth to a climactic battle on Gotham Bridge, in which he is defeated. [5] In his third appearance ( Detective Comics #173 (July 1951)) Killer Moth kidnaps Bruce Wayne and learns his secret identity. However, he is shot by other criminals and the resultant cranial injury causes amnesia. He remains a persistent enemy through the Silver Age of Comic Books, being the first villain Batgirl encounters in Detective Comics #359 (January 1967). He teams up with the Cavalier twice: the first time in Batman Family #10 (March–April 1977), where they battle Batgirl and Batwoman (Kathy Kane, who comes out of retirement for the first time in years) and the second (and final) time in Batman Family #15 (December 1977-January 1978), where they battle Batgirl and Robin.
