Description

Scholarships are awarded for excellence in academic study, Drama, Music or Sport. These will take place in February and March Non-Verbal reasoning tests indicate the potential ability and future academic results your child is likely to achieve. Verbal Reasoning tests your child’s understanding and knowledge of the language. The larger your child’s vocabulary, the better they will do in these tests. Art Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic exams, a portfolio and a practical assessment. Music scholarship applicants are assessed similarly, on the grounds of academic tests and audition. Successful students will at this point be made a firm offer, conditional on their passing Common Entrance papers in the required subjects (these vary by school, but will always include Mathematics and English). The exam aims to determine a child’s suitability to join a grammar school in Years 8 or 9. Not all schools accept 12+/13+ entry, but those that do, normally do so on the basis of available spaces in those year groups. Spaces can become available if there are too few applicants for the number of vacancies that year, or if children consequently leave those year groups during term time.

The following Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) online practice tests are highly recommended for successful preparation for the Badminton School 13+ CAT test. They help familiarise students with the various modules and question types that will come up in the CAT4 Level E, which is taken for Year 9 (13+) entry.Subject to availability of places, children may be able to sit the Epsom College 13+ entrance examination. These take place in the autumn of Year 8. The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

The Common Academic Scholarship Exam is taken instead of the regular 13+ exam at the highest level for those seeking a scholarship. Grammar schools tend to have a larger intake of students at 11 Plus level than at 12+/13+. In some instances, there may be as little as 2 or 3 available places at 12 Plus / 13 Plus, so it’s important to set your child’s expectations as part of their preparation. This is when the use of exams like the 11 Plus exam and 13 Plus exam became popular as a way to determine which students should enter which school. However, this system was formally abolished in 1976. This separated secondary school education into three categories. These categories were: secondary modern school; secondary technical school; and grammar schools. Looking for a “13+ Tutor Near Me” has never been easier than with Tutor House. AHS offers a rich selection of performing arts activities, promoting girls’ cultural and artistic growth by urging their participation in various annual productions and concerts. [ 2 ]If your daughter performs well in the test, she will be invited for a second round of assessments, taking place in January of Year 8.

Accordingly, girls successfully progress through key stages of their education, developing integrity and independence of spirit while actively growing in intellectual awareness at local, national and global levels. The 13+ Common Entrance encourages students to consolidate their knowledge gained from their understanding of the subjects taught under the National Curriculum. To cover fees in full or in part, scholarships can be coupled with means-tested bursaries. When awarded independently, bursaries can be worth 30–100% of fees. The following video courses cover everything your child needs to know to do well in the Wycombe Abbey CAT4 exam: We highly recommend the use of the following exercises to help develop your child’s arithmetic and problem-solving skills within the examination context of the Aylesbury High School 13+ maths test:
