This time, however, the watch is complimented by a brushed bezel instead of polished, and a NATO strap, instead of a bracelet.

A matching black date wheel ensures continuity throughout the entirety of the dial, with no harsh visual breaks like some other watches tend t have. One of the things I like most about the solar-powered SSC700 is its subtler, gentler take on the gold-finished watch. It’s the kind of dive watch that doesn’t smack you in the face with its dive watch-ness, making it yet another wear-anywhere option.

Both are very solid entry-level movements, known for their reliability over long periods of time, and diashock technology which helps the movement survive minor drops, bumps, and falls. The included bracelet isn’t the best, but with a watch so affordable, it’s easy to overlook, and this watch looks good on a variety of different straps if you can work around the odd 19mm lug width. Note that some watches may be damaged if you attempt to change the date between 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM, in which case you should change the time to be outside that range first then reset the time after adjusting the date. The lug width on the SNKL23 comes in at 18mm which traditionally could be a little tricky, however, in this case, it has two bonuses.

At only 37mm in diameter, and 11mm thick, the SNK355 sits close to the wrist, making it an extremely dressy-looking piece that is just screaming to be worn on an exotic leather strap like a crocodile or lizard. The included Jubilee bracelet is one of the most solid I’ve ever worn, and I’ve tried dozens of third-party Jubilees from companies like Strapcode for watches like my SKX. This Stanton Genuine Leather watch strap is ideal for the SNKL23 as it combines a reasonable amount of padding for that day in day out comfort, a generous taper down to the buckle which takes into account for the watches smaller size, a great pull up leather really lifts the whole dial and makes it feel pretty premium and finally we see quick release springbars which if you’re looking at this watch as a first one for your collection is ideal.
