What I’m saying is, this is one of those times you really can skip the book and just watch the movie. Bond with readers via quirky terminology. The narrator has language and behavior quirks that at first don't make much sense but over time serve as a bond between narrator and reader, like "the bad place" referring to the mental institution and "apart time" referring to the split with his wife -- also his hysterical aggressive response to the musical stylings of Kenny G. Bradley Cooper, star of David O Russell's new comedy drama, talks to Catherine Shoard about society, superstition, and goat's milk guardian.co.uk I totally understood so many of his thought patterns. Looking for answers in the clouds and wishing for the unattainable. And his unshakeable belief in "silver linings". I say yes! There's no point in existing otherwise. Kit, Borys (September 26, 2011). "Oscar-Nominated 'Animal Kingdom' Actress in Talks to Join 'Silver Lining Playbook' ". The locations are Upper Darby, Ridley Park, and Lansdowne communities just outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although not mentioned by name in the film, Ridley Park is credited at the end, and a police officer can be seen wearing the initials "RPPD" on his collar. [24] Pat approaches Nikki and whispers into her ear. When Tiffany sees this she runs off, so Pat leaves Nikki and chases her. He hands her a letter, in which he admits to knowing she forged the letter. He confesses that he loved her from the moment he met her, though it took him a long time to realize it. They share a kiss. Patrizio opens a restaurant with the money he has won, and Pat and Tiffany begin a relationship, no longer wearing their wedding rings. But other than that, I thought this book was a fairly good read. I didn't think it was amazing, but it wasn't bad either. It's not executed perfectly, but it's a cute story. However, I LOVED reading it! All the issues I described did not get in my way of enjoying this book as a novel. In fact, I thought parts of it were hilarious - some because I have an inside view of mental illness, and some because they are just generally funny. Well, a lot of it was funny. It was also sad. It's a great read! Just don't expect a picture perfect view of what it's like to have a mental illness since the author skips over some very major parts of the treatments and peoples reactions. Tiffany is another version of the tough bartender and college drop-out in Russell's The Fighter who sets out to rescue the failing boxer from the family that is destroying him. Both are familiar characters in Hollywood comedies, but the fundamentally sensible Tiffany is given a rare depth and pathos by Jennifer Lawrence. She bonds in a complex way with Pat by giving him a pejorative, one-minute summary of Lord of the Flies before throwing it out into the street. This echoes a literally shattering scene earlier on when Pat reads the high school syllabus his wife is currently teaching, is driven crazy by the wilful pessimism of the end of Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms and throws the book through a closed window. Perhaps the message of this strand of the narrative is to carry on with the medication but be careful what you read.Let the reader see around the narrator. It was moving to learn along with the narrator what he'd forgotten and what he'd missed while institutionalized (eg, the Eagles in the Super Bowl!). Sometimes I wonder if I read the same book as other people. That's usually when I hate something that other people love. It's rarer when we both like the same book, but for vastly different reasons and have vastly different interpretations. But of course, the power of literature is interpretation, so it's to be expected. a b c d Ryan, Mike (November 28, 2012). "David O. The film takes place over the second half of the 2008 NFL football season, [25] which saw the Philadelphia Eagles advance to the NFC Championship Game. Several games are mentioned, including the Eagles' victories over Seattle and San Francisco, their losses to two of their NFC East rivals Washington Redskins [26] and the New York Giants (which was the game Pat was attending when the fight broke out), and their victory over Dallas in the regular season's final game.
