Description

The Raspberry Pi 400 Computer Kit includes the Pi 400 base unit, USB-C power supply, single MicroHDMI to HDMI cable 3 feet in length, 16 GB microSD card, and the Raspberry Pi Getting Started Guide. If you are lost in all these new words and abbreviations, request my free Raspberry Pi glossary here (PDF format)! If you can, plug a network cable into the Ethernet port (the square one on the far right of my picture). The Raspberry Pi 400 can also connect via Wi-Fi, so it’s optional.

The Raspberry Pi Bootcamp: Understand everything about the Raspberry Pi, stop searching for help all the time, and finally enjoy completing your projects. The kit includes Raspberry Pi 400, power supply, HDMI cable, preloaded 16GB microSD card with Raspberry Pi OS installed, mouse, and Beginner guide. Just add a monitor! Open a terminal and use command lines, but I guess it’s a bit too much for now if it’s your first use of the system. The Raspberry Pi 400 requires a specific (and uncommon) voltage in input, so I strongly encourage using the official power supply.

Raspberry Pi 400 has various connectors and interfacing options: two USB 3.0 ports and a single USB 2.0 port for peripherals; two micro-HDMI ports, supporting up to 4k resolution; Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac wireless networking and Bluetooth 5; and a standard 40-pin GPIO port, supporting Raspberry Pi HAT expansion boards. There are endless possibilities with this amazing computer that you can take anywhere We keep saying it… because it’s amazing. Raspberry Pi 400 is a fully integrated personal computer inside a keyboard – just plug in and play! It also means you don’t have to waste any space with a clunky desktop PC. Get Going Straight Out the Box The Pi 400's 1.8GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, dual micro HDMI ports, wireless LAN, and connectivity options all combine to deliver the full desktop experience that's comparable to entry-level PCs. IO & Connectivity: Raspberry Pi 400 is powered via this USB-C Power connection using a Raspberry Pi 15.3W USB-C Power Supply (included in the Raspberry Pi 400 personal computer kit). USB 3.0 As mentioned before, this product comes equipped with a Raspberry Pi development board already integrated within, so you know you’re getting the best. Over 14 million Raspberry Pi computers have been sold worldwide that have transformed the single-board computing world. Helping people of all ages and knowledge levels explore the world of programming and computing. Go WirelessTwo micro HDMI connectors are used to connect Raspberry Pi 400 to up to two 4K monitors. Raspberry Pi tell us they're "happy with the micro HDMI connector form factor" and there would be no way to support dual display with full-size connectors. A micro HDMI to HDMI cable is included in the Raspberry Pi 400 personal computer kit. USB-C power Go to “Preferences”>“Recommended Software” and install the main applications. The list is pretty limited, but it might be enough for the most popular ones. The 40-pin GPIO header is used to connect Raspberry Pi 400 to electronic devices and to experiment with electronics and coding. Look closely and you’ll see PIN1 and PIN40 imprinted on the case next to the first and last pin. Using HAT hardware with Raspberry Pi 400

Originally developed for supercomputers, this synthetic benchmark - ported to Raspberry Pi OS by Roy Longbottom - offers a look at best-case performance gains between models. Three versions of the benchmark are compared: Single Precision (SP), Double Precision (DP), and a Single Precision variant which uses the accelerated Arm NEON instructions available since Raspberry Pi 2. More benchmarks and engineering interview in The MagPi magazine issue #100 For use as a simple desktop replacement and for educational purposes I would give the Pi 400 5 stars. You can buy Raspberry Pi 400 on its own, or as part of a Personal Computer Kit bundle with all the accessories you need. Inside the box you’ll find: Power supply: Even if you can start a Raspberry Pi 400 by plugging it into your phone charger (USB-C) or by just using a USB cable plugged into your main computer, it’s not a good idea. The additional speed can be felt in everything from web browsing and image editing to running Python programs, and it doesn’t come at the cost of compatibility: Raspberry Pi 400 is fully compatible with all software and operating systems which work on Raspberry Pi 4, and older models too.

Is a monitor an accessory or an essential? We're not sure, but if touchscreens aren’t your thing or you’re looking for a more affordable Raspberry Pi 400 monitor, our HANNspree 21.5” Full-HD monitor is the ideal choice. The Raspberry Pi 400 unit is the main product. It’s basically a Raspberry Pi 4 hidden in the official Raspberry Pi keyboard.

Unlike other Raspberry Pi models, the Raspberry Pi 400 looks much more like a traditional PC with everything embedded in the keyboard. However, installation may differ from what you’re used to (cable connections, system installation and configuration).
