While Biff’s vocals aren’t as throat-shredding as the late Dan McCaffrey’s, their cover of ‘Razamanaz’ really rocks out. Consisting entirely of covers, it was recorded at Brockfield Hall and The Big Silver Barn in York, UK and produced by Biff Byford. Following the release of Inspirations in 2021, More Inspirations is the second ‘deep dish’ serving of the influences which have fed the mighty Saxon’s immensely successful 40+ year career.

Their cover of The Animals’ “We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place” kicks off the album on a high note; it’s good old Rock ‘n’ Roll with a nice groove and a thick bass line.In a March 2015 interview, Byford described the album as a mixture of rock and roll and heavy metal. Like their previous covers album, the band wanted to pay homage to their musical influences that inspired them throughout their journey. They then maintained that they had exclusive rights to the name and tried to prevent Biff Byford and Saxon's promoters and merchandisers from using the name. A huge sold out world tour in support of the album followed, but tensions began to appear within the band and, by early 1986, bassist Steve Dawson was fired, [6] and Saxon was forced to record their eighth studio album Rock the Nations without a replacement. The band quickly replaced him with Nigel Glockler, formerly of Toyah, [2] who had to learn the entire set within a day and a half. In September Saxon announced the release of Heavy Metal Thunder - The Movie, a documentary on the band's history from the beginning. In a 16 March 2017 interview with former Anthrax vocalist Neil Turbin on Canada's The Metal Voice in Los Angeles, California, Biff Byford gave an update on the new album saying that several songs were already recorded with a few more to complete, with an estimated release date for early 2018.

Saxon even gets experimental and creative with “The Faith Healer,” originally done by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The highlights of the album are their covers of Alice Cooper’s “From the Inside,” which has deep and introspective lyrics, and Rainbow’s “Man on the Silver Mountain,” which has solid drumming and a ferocious guitar riff.On 1 August 2015, the band announced 16 October as the release date of Battering Ram and also premiered the official video of the title track. We started in 1985 and are comprised of Metal gurus from the United States, Norway, England, France, and Canada!
