Description

You can use mango butter as it is on the skin. Simply cut off a small amount of the butter and rub it directly into the skin. As you rub it on the skin, it will melt and rub in nicely.

Once made and in airtight jar, how long will it keep unrefrigerated? Or do I need to add in a preservative? After freezer I whipped for 2 minutes and had perfect whip and consistency I wanted. (Really most people would find step 2 good. But I wanted extra whip. Lol)Aqua (Water), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Carbomer, PEG-40 Stearate, Mangifera Indica (MANGO) Fruit Extract, Trideceth-6, Ceteareth-20, Buteth-3, Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydroxyacetophenone, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tributyl Citrate, Denatonium Benzoate, Dipropylene Glycol, Limonene, Citronellol, Citral, Linalool, Coumarin, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 17200 (Red 33). After the mixture is melted together, place the bowl in the freezer until it is set up a bit. You don’t want it to be solid just firm. (See picture)

NOTES: If stored properly, whipped body butter will be good for up to one year. It is best to store in a glass container with an airtight container. You can make whipped butter by mixing mango butter, cocoa butter, or shea butter with a carrier oil. The carrier oil you use is completely up to you! My favorites are fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil. Before mango butter is whipped, it has a similar consistency to regular butter. I prefer to whip it to give it that light and fluffy texture. BENEFITS OF MANGO BUTTER I love making my own natural skincare and this whipped mango butter is one of my favorites. It is made with all-natural ingredients that will keep your skin silky smooth.

Mango butter has a lot of benefits for the skin and is often found in skincare items. It doesn’t clog pores and works well for acne-prone skin. In fact, mango butter can be used for all skin types. The DIY mango body butter is simple to make and only calls for 4 simple ingredients. It is light and fluffy! PIN IT FOR LATER If you made this recipe, be sure to leave a comment below and let me know what essential oil blend you went with! You have the option of adding essential oils to your whipped mango body butter and I highly recommend it! Essential oils have great benefits for the skin and will make it smell amazing. I start with a small amount first, then add more as needed. Make sure to add it slowly, as if you add too much, it will take away the lightness and fluffiness of the body butter.

You can also use grapeseed oil, olive oil, rosehip oil, or avocado oil. Each carrier oil has different benefits for the skin. Learn more about the top carrier oils and their benefits. ARROWROOT POWDER Mango butter comes from the pit of the mango. It is similar to cocoa butter and shea butter, as it will leave the skin moisturized without feeling greasy. I made this mango body butter (I also added a hyaluronic acid serum w/a natural preservative I made) and use it every morning immediately after my shower. What I’m finding is that by mid afternoon my skin is getting really really dry and crepe like. When I was using an over-the-counter lotion, like Eucerin, I didn’t have that problem. After the mixture is melted together, place the bowl in the freezer until it is set up a bit. You don't want it to be solid just firm. (See picture)I love adding lavender essential oil for anything skincare because of the incredible benefits it has for the skin. Lavender can reduce signs of aging, improve skin imperfections, and keep the skin clean and purified. If you want to make whipped mango butter, cut the mango butter into small pieces and place it in a bowl. Add in some type of carrier oil and whip with a handheld mixer. Mango butter doesn’t only have amazing benefits for the skin, but also the hair. Using mango butter in the hair can soften, moisturize, and provide hydration.

Citrus oils are fun to add to mango butter to give it that fun fruity scent. It is important to note that citrus essential oils are photosensitive and shouldn’t be used topically in direct sunlight. Mango butter doesn’t smell like mangos since it doesn’t come from the edible fruit. This may come to a disappointment to some. I have to say I expected it to smell like mangos the first time I smelled it. It has a very subtle scent, making it a great option for DIY skincare.Melt mango butter and coconut oil in a double boiler. I make my own double boiler by placing a bowl over a pot of boiling water. Often times the complaint about homemade body butters is that they are too greasy and oily on the skin. Adding arrowroot powder to the mixture will help with this. Mixing it with a carrier oil and essential oils will make the mango butter light and fluffy. It will also add more benefits to the skin. HOMEMADE WHIPPED MANGO BODY BUTTER
