As with every innovation, we have done our research and tested different flavour options with the consumer using qualitative and quantitative analysis. Working with taste experts, we selected the preferred flavour options for Nigerians. Unlike the reaction we had gotten in the past, we knew this time was different because Nigerians were ready for more. In 2015, Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund introduced the Maltina Teacher of the Year, a national competition to identify, honour and reward outstanding teachers in Nigeria.

Morgan disclosed that the number of entries for this year’s edition of the competition was unprecedented as it witnessed the highest number of entries ever, with a record-breaking 1,499 entries from all 36 federation states, including the Federal Capital Territory. “We received an impressive 1,203 valid entries, the second-highest number we have received since the competition’s inception,” she said. However, this year has been particularly challenging for everyone in the industries. The business and competitive landscape has been exigent for all players alike. Nonetheless it is in times like these that brands need to step up for their consumers and the country at large, showing that they are there for them. Let’s remind you that scientists say happy people tend to live a longer and healthier life. Why not boost that happiness with any of our malt brands? We are set to flag off a flavour tour in a few locations with appearances by our newly signed brand ambassadors, Tomike Adeoye, Osas Ighodaro and Rahama Sadau. Our engagements have been mostly digital, ensuring that people have fun trying out these new flavours and taking online to offline.

Considering the target audience and our desire to thrill young consumers, we focused on the top two flavours that elicit excitement and fun (pineapple) as well as indulgence and escape (vanilla). Respecting the consumers need for a refreshing beverage and their preference for familiar tastes, we were intentional in selecting flavours that they already loved. The goal is to change the perception of young people that malt is not a monotonous drink. Instead, we want them to enjoy the fun-filled flavour bursts of malt plus its added nutritional benefits. Guinness comments: Responding to C&M inquiries, Adenike Adebola, Marketing and Innovation Director for Guinness Nigeria stated: “The Nigerian soft drinks market has continued to evolve. Our participation has grown over the last two years from one brand to three. With the evolving economic climate we have seen strong growth in the value segment within which we also have a very strong contender with Dubic Malt. As a government, we are proud to identify with this Award because it resonates with our teacher’s welfare programme. We appreciate that teachers are at the heart of successful learning, so we introduced the EKOEXCEL TRAINING to support and empower them and impact pupil and teacher success,” he said. Delivering the special remarks on behalf of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, lauded Nigerian Breweries Plc for its significant contributions towards making the teaching profession an enviable one amidst the low morale. He noted that the Lagos State government appreciates the significance of such competition in improving the quality of teaching and students’ performance.

Malted drinks help to reduce heart problems. Malt extracts contain fibre, potassium, folate and vitamin B6, which help to lower cholesterol in the body. So, with a healthy glass of Maltina in your hands, you are reducing your risk of dealing with heart diseases. Contrary to Uguwanyi’s statement, Mrs. Elizabeth Ojuolape, a depot owner, along Lagos-Badagry expressway said: “Those that buy and drink Maltina do so because of its promise of vitamins and body nourishments.” However, Mr. Paul Nwokeoma, a mini depot owner, said: “Malta Guinness was introduced into the market in 1990. It came with great taste and, above all, no after-taste, even when some consumers complained. This feat was a big relief for consumers. Soon, a generally accepted rumour spread like a wild fire, stating that Malta Guinness acts as a blood booster or blood tonic.” He said: “Education is our collective responsibility, and its failure can be taken as the failure of the entire country. It is based on this that the Federal Ministry of Education recognises and commends the efforts of Nigeria Breweries Plc-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund to celebrate outstanding teachers across Nigeria.” Ok… don’t get confused. Sprouting involves a special type of soaking that allows the grains to grow sprouts (or tails), which are then used to produce the malt drinks. The Maltina Teacher of the Year Award 2023 aims to honour and commend exceptional teachers in Nigeria.

Malt provides a high source of energy-giving protein. They contain vitamins, minerals, starch, protein and trace elements, which are easily absorbed by the body and prevent heaviness common to other starches. So, they are ideal for energy boosts during mental and physical activity. The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lauded Nigerian Breweries Plc for its significant contributions towards making the teaching profession an enviable one amidst the low morale. He said that the state government appreciates the significance of such competition in improving the quality of teaching and students’ performance. The Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (i-FAIR) Program 2023 for entrepreneurs and innovators Morgan disclosed that this year’s edition witnessed the highest number of entries ever, with a record-breaking 1,499 entries from all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory. “We received an impressive 1,203 valid entries, the second-highest number we have received since the competition’s inception,” she said. We’ll start with the most renowned. Malt drinks boost your mood and make you happy. Think about how excited you feel when you glimpse a chilled bottle of Maltina or Heineken. Or the happy vibes you get after the first sip of that malted goodness.

Azuh Chike of Ezemu Girls Grammar School, Delta State emerged as the first runner-up, with a total cash prize of N1.5 million while Adam Abdulqadir Ndi of Model Science College, Niger State, emerged as the second runner-up, with N1.25 million cash prize. In addition, 27 other teachers who emerged as state champions from their respective states received N500,000.00 each.
