An office was opened in the Rockefeller Centre in Manhattan with the discreet compliance of Roosevelt and J Edgar Hoover of the FBI. He sent over 500 radio messages between January 1944 and D-Day, at times more than twenty messages per day. Eddie Chapman wanted to go down in history as the man who killed Hitler but was talked out of the plan by British domestic security service MI5, Ben Macintyre, who has just penned a book on him, wrote in the London newspaper The Times. In 1931, Pujol did his six months of compulsory military service in a cavalry unit, the 7th Regiment of Light Artillery.

Pujol was born in Barcelona to Joan Pujol, a Catalan who owned a cotton factory, and Mercedes García Guijarro, from the Andalusian town of Motril in the Province of Granada.A wild shooting affray followed, and one man, believed to be a Dutchman in the Dutch car, was killed, the body being dragged back into Germany. At his wife’s insistence, Hanssen promised to cut ties with the Soviets and confessed to a priest, who told him to donate the ill-gotten money to charity. After developing a loathing of political extremism of all sorts during the Spanish Civil War, Pujol decided to become a spy for Britain as a way to do something "for the good of humanity". However, these plans proved unnecessary; Chapman surrendered to the local police shortly after landing and offered his services to MI5.

However, he was equally ill-treated by the Nationalist side, disliking their fascist influences and being struck and imprisoned by his colonel upon Pujol's expressing sympathy with the monarchy.Certainly at the height of its operations in late 1941 there were many hundreds of agents and many hundreds of fellow travellers (enough finally to stir the suspicions of Hoover, for one).

The FBI constructed a shortwave radio station on New York’s Long Island, where agents impersonating Sebold exchanged hundreds of messages with the Nazis. After that he visited the Special Forces Club and was reunited with a group of his former colleagues, including T. BSC took enormous pains to ensure its propaganda was circulated and consumed as bona fide news reporting. Following a letter in German which they concocted to get off the Island, they were transferred to Fort de Romainville in Paris.Chapman had been dining with his lover and future fiancée Betty Farmer at the Hotel de la Plage immediately before his arrest and, when he saw plain-clothes police coming to arrest him for crimes on the mainland, made a spectacular exit through the dining room window (which was shut at the time). Therefore, he resolved to establish himself as a German agent before approaching the British again to offer his services as a double-agent.

Section B1A, the MI5-backed department with the task of capturing enemy agents and turning them into double agents, had discussed the best method of capturing Chapman without revealing Ultra.

His contacts in Eastern Europe led to deep penetration of the Soviet State, how it functioned and how it was to colonise the West.
