Another crucial factor to consider is the maximum amount of electricity a PPS can deliver at once. AC output determines what appliances you can operate and how many you can run simultaneously.

All of these ports make RIVER 2 the most versatile 7.7 lb (3.5 kg) PPS on the market. But every port is also an opportunity for water to make ingress into your PPS. While your RIVER 2 will surely survive a slight sprinkle, don’t leave it outside in the rain — and don’t immerse it in the water! The RIVER 2 series represents the latest improvements in EcoFlow’s innovative portable power stations (PPS). A substantial upgrade on the original RIVER collection, the RIVER 2 series includes the RIVER 2 Max and RIVER 2 Pro. A big part of what makes the River 2 Pro so good is the balance it strikes between size, performance, and functionality. To keep the unit as compact as possible, EcoFlow gave it a 768Wh battery, which is smaller than those found in many other power stations. However, you can use two RIVER 2s simultaneously but separately. For example, use one to power your lighting while the other powers your box fan. As you can see, the number of outlets provided by the RIVER 2 Max and RIVER 2 Pro is identical. But with 300W more AC output, the RIVER Pro can power higher-wattage devices. Size, Weight, and PortabilityIf you want to take your PPS camping, the RIVER 2 Max and Pro are each outstanding options for portable off-grid power. So what’s our verdict on the EcoFlow River 2 power station? Well, if you’re looking for a small power station which can help tide you over on a camping trip to keep your gadgets charged, or you need a few hours blast on a cool box for a picnic then this is the one for you. It’s essential to keep in mind, though, that a solar panel rarely produces its rated power output in the real world. This is due to numerous factors outlined in the posts linked above. A good rule of thumb for estimating average electricity output is to assume your panel will produce 75% of its rated power during peak sunlight hours. The River 2 Pro may not be one of EcoFlow’s flagship models, but it still has some features that you might only expect on higher-end units. For instance, it has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to monitor and interact with the device remotely using a smartphone app. This is common on larger, much more expensive power stations, but I was happy to see it included here as well. OK, we’ve spent alot of time with the River 2 – is it a useful device? The answer is yes, as long as you’re aware of how little power you have on board.

Capacity (Wh) / DC input rate (W) = Charge time (h). How Long Does RIVER 2 Take to Fully Charge Using the USB-C Input? With 4 different ways to top up the RIVER 2 Series, there’s a recharge option no matter what. From fast AC in-car charging when you’re on the go. You could even use a 220W bifacial portable solar panel to help ensure you regularly achieve the maximum solar input capacity of the RIVER 2 PPS. All EcoFlow portable power stations turn seamlessly into solar generators when you add solar panels. Both the RIVER 2 Max and Pro have a maximum solar input of 220W and pair perfectly with one 160W Portable Solar Panel or 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel. Or, you could opt for up to two 100W Flexible Solar Panels for a rated power wattage of +/- 200W – 220W. Number and Type of Outlets/Plugs

For example, you can connect it to an EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel since the solar Input of RIVER 2 is 8A Max,11-30V 110W, and the Open Circuit Voltage of EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel is 21.8V, which falls within that range. However, any extra electricity produced over 110W gives you no additional benefit.

I would have liked to have seen another USB-C port or two; otherwise, it is hard to find fault with this versatile line-up. In theory, it is possible to charge up to 11 devices at once, which should be sufficient to meet the needs of most users. Keep the River Flowing The RIVER 2 Max and Pro each offer four charging options, enabling you to go from 0-100% electricity storage capacity pretty much anywhere — fast! Suppose you’re on a budget and don’t like the idea of paying for more electricity generation capacity that you need. In that case, you’re better off purchasing a 110W EcoFlow solar panel to match your RIVER 2’s solar input capacity. On the other hand, RIVER 2 Pro offers substantially more power. With an operating AC output of 800W (1,600W of starting power with x-boost), RIVER 2 can power up to 80% of high-wattage appliances. The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro Portable Power Station is a real workhorse, demonstrating great performance in various demanding environments, including intensive photography and videography setups. Its robustness, reliability, and efficiency stand out in particular. However, a laptop (for example) will be unaffected by the 30ms switchover as it has its own battery. Can the RIVER 2 Handle High-Wattage Appliances? The side panels of the River 2 are featureless. It’s the front and rear faces where the main action happens. Front Panel
