Description

The top of the GF3 has a microphone, monoaural speaker, cleverly designed built-in pop-up flash, dedicated button for the Intelligent Auto mode which lights blue when turned on, tactile shutter button, on/off switch, and a one-touch movie button. The Panasonic GF3 has a dedicated button for opening the cleverly designed pop-up flash. Given the small size of the GF3, fitting a built-in flash was no mean feat, as proven by the double-hinged design which is quite a technical achievement. Although not particularly powerful with a guide number of just 6.3, the GF3's flash is perfectly adequate for fill-in effects at close-quarters. When you operate the zoom, the zoom will stop at positions corresponding to predetermined distances. When enabled, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 automatically compensates for camera shake, which is a slight blurring of the image that typically occurs at slow shutter speeds when the camera is hand held. There are three different modes, Mode 1 is on all the time including image composition, Mode 2 is only on when you press the shutter button, and Mode 3 compensates for up and down movements only (which in turn allows you to pan the camera). In practice I found that it does make a noticeable difference, especially with the 45-200mm telephoto lens. You don't notice that the camera is actually doing anything different when anti-shake is turned on, just that you can use slower shutter speeds than normal and still take sharp photos. The Panasonic DMC-GF3 uses a resistive touchscreen to provide mode selections, and as such that there is not a mode dial on the camera. Many features are no longer controlled by dials and buttons and wheels, but via the 3-inch touchscreen (460k- dot) at the rear of the unit. [3]The announcement of a GF-series camera carries with it the expectations from some quarters of a model that can lay claim to being a rightful heir to the GF1; a rangefinder-style enthusiast-oriented camera for those who want external controls. In design, features and price, Panasonic has positioned the GF3 as far from this template as we've seen in a G-series model. Despite being based around the same 12MP Micro Four Thirds sensor as the GF2, the GF3's new processor allows it to analyze autofocus information 120 times per second, a performance bump that made a significant difference to performance of the DMC-G3, released earlier this year. Increased sensor readout speed means theoretically improved AF speed. Based on our experience with the G3, we'd therefor expect AF speed to rival that of most entry-level DSLRs when presented with static subjects. The night photograph was excellent, with the maximum shutter speed of 60 seconds allowing you to capture plenty of light. We struggled to see any differences between the Intelligent Resolution settings, but Intelligent D-range is an effective new feature for capturing more detail in the shadows and highlights. RAW images, Unlimited JPEG images with a fast card; H: 3.8 frames/sec, M: 2.8 frames/sec (with Live View), L: 2 frames/sec (with Live View) The Loncin G300FA, Honda GX270 petrol and Kphler KD15 350 diesel engine are ideal for professional mowing on slopes.

We like the GF3, but it isn't perfect. It misses out on a silver award by a whisker, due to its aging 12MP sensor, and some questionable design decisions as regards flash and lens mount position. Both issues have the potential to annoy all users, regardless of their experience or their expectations.

The GF3’s mechanical transmission with its oil bath gears is located inside an aluminium pressed casing. The lever operated controls for the gears and P.T.O. are easily accessible. For better balance we recommend the use of the 127 cm cutter bar in combination with the Lombardini 15LD350 diesel engine. One of the GF3's main innovations is its touchscreen interface, with a revamped GUI that's easy on the eye. Panasonic have wisely restricted the amount of things that you can do by interacting with the screen, and indeed you can still operate most things on the camera without having to push and prod the LCD at all. But you would be missing out on a lot of genuinely useful functionality that really improves the shooting experience. images (when there are RAW files with the particular speed) / Unlimited consecutive shooting (when there are no RAW files) / (depending on memory card size, battery power, picture size, and compression) L) / 2816x2112(M) / 2048x1536(S) / 1600x1200(When attaching 3D lens in Micro Four Third System standard) / [3:2] 4000x2672(L) / 2816x1880(M) / 2048x1360(S) / 1600x1064(When attaching 3D lens in Micro Four Third System standard) / [16:9] 4000x2248(L) / 2816x1584(M) / 1920x1080(S) / 1600x904(When attaching 3D lens in Micro Four Third System standard) / [1:1] 2992 x 2992 (L) / 2112 x 2112 (M) / 1504 x 1504 (S) / 1440x1440(When attaching 3D lens in Micro Four Third System standard)
