Description

The Prophecy is a top down action adventure game. Lara can jump, climb, and vault over obstacles similar to the classic Tomb Raider games. Lara is equipped with her signature dual pistols, she also finds a pair of uzis and mystical golden guns. The Prophecy essentially plays as isometric version of Tomb Raider classic games. To go to the inventory screen, press Select. Use the Control Pad left/right buttons to view each of the items in inventory. When the item you want is centered, press A to use or equip it (and return to the game) or press Select to return to gameplay without using anything. The game is paused while on the inventory screen.

The game was developed by Eidos Montreal, though you probably wouldn’t have guessed it, as the gameplay remains more or less the same as the previous two titles. It features an exciting mix of action and exploration, and it even places a greater emphasis on puzzles.

Apart from beautiful environments, Legend featured the right balance of action and puzzles. However, the puzzles weren’t as challenging as those in some of the earlier games, and the combat could get stale and started feeling very simplistic after a while.

At a wall or ledge press A to grab the edge then use the appropriate control pad button to pull up. The isometric design of this game is very ambitious and a little off putting at first. Despite my early reservations the isometric design really works. While there were a few deaths caused by misjudging a jump, it wasn't as common as I was expecting. Instead the isometric levels allow for a playground to utilise all of Lara's skills. Those aren't the only reasons why the game looks terrific. Thanks to the use of 3D character models, all of Lara's actions are full of animation. The way she runs, jumps, and lands never feels choppy, which gives you a very realistic sense of movement. At the same time, her shadow reacts to whatever it is she's doing at the time, as well as to features in the environment such as bright lights or obscuring walls. The game uses a tilted 3D perspective that is most commonly seen in handheld role-playing games, but the overall effect works wonderfully here. The environments themselves are pretty large and hold secrets in every direction--which includes the vertical plane, in addition to the four standard directions. There are numerous occasions when you'll have to scale multiple platforms upward just to progress to the left or right. If there's any complaint to make about the graphics, it's that the environments don't exhibit as much detail or animation as the characters, and that the enemies tend to repeat more often than you'd like. Climb up and use Lara's hands to walk across. The game received a 3 + 1⁄ 2-out-of-5 score from GameSpy reviewer Scott Steinberg, who praised it for the aesthetic effects of the game camera, which give the illusion that the player can see into a 3-dimensional space. However, Steinberg criticized the repetitive nature of the game, as it largely consists of the player having to trigger a switch, and opening a door or shutting off a trap, only to come to the next switch and repeat it again. [5] GameSpy concluded that although the game has some merits, it falls short in terms of gameplay standards of many of its greatest assets are related to audio and visuals. In the version we've been playing, Lara only really encounters wolves as the bad guys during the adventure. In the arctic, they're arctic wolves. In the jungle, they're gray wolves. Hopefully as the game progresses in development the team will add variety to the enemies. Overall this game has some amazing ideas and truly succeeds in bringing the Tomb Raider experience to the GBA. However the game does not succeed in keeping the player's attention or making the game portable friendly and even while the exploration is fun the combat side is very boring.
