Silver (or “Blanco”) tequila is probably the most well-known, and it typically appears perfectly clear in the bottle. This is tequila that’s only aged for a few weeks, so it doesn’t have time to develop the color and characteristics that come from a longer aging process. Silver tequila is great to drink on its own, but it’s great for mixed drinks as well. It will typically taste sweeter and more refreshing, with a smooth, silky finish. As Clooney sold the brand to Diageo [ 1], Casamigos continuously soared high and is known to be one of the fastest-growing tequila brands today [ 2]. It may not come from the same distillery where it all started, but the spirit has an excellent flavor profile that makes you want another glass.Alongside Casamigos Blanco Tequila, the brand also produces it’s popular Casamigos Reposado and Casamigos Añejo Tequilas, along with other non-tequila spirits such as mezcal. When building their respective homes in Mexico, actor and director George Clooney and bar and restaurant tycoon Rande Gerber took the opportunity to drink as much tequila as they could get their hands on. Sitting in a bar one night, the pair reflected on all the bottles they’d sampled. Each agreed they hadn’t yet found their perfect match, and so they decided to make their own. Casamigos Tequila is one of the most well-loved tequilas today because of it’s ultra-premium taste. The Casamigos brand is famous for being started by Hollywood movie star George Clooney, and is one of the fastest-growing tequila brands in the world.

Reposado tequila is also aged but the aging process can be anywhere from two months to 11 months. It has a smooth, even finish. It’s less harsh on the tongue and won’t give you as strong as a hangover… provided that you’re sipping responsibly of course. Founded in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2018, Dano’s Tequila just won Best in Class Añejo at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Dano’s also won the Gold Medal in the 2019 Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) Tasting Competition, and the Double Gold and Gold in the 2018 SIP Awards. Casamigos Blanco is a delicious, fruity, and smooth-tasting tequila, and the liquor offers a luscious and long finish. Casamigos Blanco is approachable, sweet, and smooth on our first sip. It has the right balance of sweetness that we look for in Blancos. Casamigos Blanco is made from pure agave that underwent extra slow fermentation and cooking to ensure its traditional yet premium quality.If your bottle doesn’t have a NOM, that means it’s not certified by the TRC (Tequila Regulatory Council), and not an authentic Tequila producer. Don’t be fooled by the “gold” label on gold tequila. These are often referred to as a “Mixto,” where colors and flavors are added prior to bottling. These young tequilas are less expensive and typically used in bars and restaurants for making mixed drinks.

With a focus on purity, Casamigos uses only the finest Blue Weber agave, sourced from the Jalisco highlands in Mexico. For the bottle itself, this is the most boring and unimaginative design I think I’ve seen yet. It’s literally just a bottle. As in, someone took a beer bottle and over-inflated it a little bit. Which I suppose makes sense here, given the history of the brand — this was never intended to be a brand of tequila offered for sale, only for private consumption. So spending a ton of time on a fancy bottle didn’t make sense. With Diageo now behind the wheel, though, you’d think that they would have done something more fancy… so if this was a conscious decision to lean into the origins of the brand, then I might actually applaud the choice. As we popped the bottle, we were welcomed with the aroma of heavy vanilla notes and excellent hints of tropical fruits.
