This is probably the best normal gaming 15.6" laptop we've ever tested, for a normal exaggerated price (especially in the current state of affairs, I'd call it very affordable). So we definitely recommend. The Asus ROG Strix impresses with an elaborate design and fast hardware. The latter can unleash its potential well in the large 15-inch case and achieve a decent performance boost compared to the previous generation. Especially the stunning 300 Hz display as well as the RTX 3070 and its generous TDP give gamers their money's worth. Asus didn't neglect seemingly small details, either, such as the keyboard and the maintenance options. The ROG Strix G15 offers a lot of pure performance and excellent workmanship in a 15-inch format, but the equipment leaves a lot to be desired. In comparison, all tested devices range from 0.1 (minimum) to 240 (maximum) ms. » 18% of all devices are better. While plenty of mechanical keyboards use the venerable Cherry MX switches, Logitech has for some time now opted to develop its own mechanical switches named Romer-G. The G513 uses an all-new version of the company’s proprietary switches, so instead of just one type there are now two: either Linear or Tactile. Comparatively, the Romer-G Linear is akin to a Cherry MX Red switch with a smooth, fast keystroke. The Romer-G Tactile is closer to a Cherry MX Brown, with a tactile response with each key press. By comparison, the Romer-G Linear switch feels firm but without introducing too much resistance. Thanks to the boxy nature of the underlying mechanism, each key press actuates evenly and comes to a nearly silent stop. Comparatively, we’ve always felt Cherry MX Red offers so little resistance, the keys chatter and feel uneven when actuated. This new Romer-G Linear Switch, according to Logitech, promises a quieter and 25% faster keystroke than competitors. After using the keyboard for about a week, we feel the peripheral maker has fully delivered on its claims, and has developed a key switch that’s better than the Cherry MX Red switch. In comparison, all tested devices range from 0.2 (minimum) to 636 (maximum) ms. » 15% of all devices are better. title=More%20Expert%20Tech%20Roundups&type=articles%2Cvideos&tags=tech-roundup&count=6&columnCount=6&theme=article The ASUS ROG Strix G513QR-HF118 gaming laptop is an enthusiast gamer's dream. The most extreme machine imaginable with a stunning design oozing with personality, and a high-end configuration, far superior to the formidable ASUS ROG Strix G513IC-HN004T. The G512 and G513 gaming keyboards feature onboard memory to store lighting effects. This comes in handy if you need to use a computer that does not have LGS installed. At the time of release, you can only store one Freestyle, Zones or Effects (except Star Effect and Key Press) Lighting Mode layout on the keyboard’s memory. Getting started - G513 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Download

The G513 is a very comfortable keyboard; compact, yet with a pleasing angle and a wrist rest deep enough to support even larger hands. I spent multiple hours playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and never felt any wrist strain or general fatigue while using this keyboard. Playing The Witcher 3, the average temperature for the upper side is 36.8 °C / 98 F, compared to the device average of 33.9 °C / 93 F. The Asus ROG Strix G15 is an impressive set of tools that are built tough and powerful enough to do the light work of modern gaming. The Asus ROG Strix impresses with an elaborate design and fast hardware. The latter can unfold its potential well in the large 15-inch case and achieve a decent performance boost compared to the last generation. Especially the impressive 300 Hz display as well as the RTX 3070 and its generously sized TDP give gamers their money's worth. We call the ASUS ROG Strix G513QR a great choice when you need a comfortable and powerful laptop for gaming and multimedia.CPU performance is slightly limited on battery power. The Cinebench multi-thread scores are a good 10% lower on battery power than when plugged in. The palmrests and touchpad are cooler than skin temperature with a maximum of 30 °C / 86 F and are therefore cool to the touch. The lighting customization options universally affect the G512 and G513 gaming keyboards by default. However, you can also configure lighting settings to be set on a per profile basis. Another big change from the G413 is the inclusion of full RGB lighting, as opposed to the former model's single-color setup. The change has brought this keyboard in-line with other high-end mechanical boards in terms of vibrant, customizable RGB light shows. Logitech’s Romer-G switches do a great job with lighting as it only comes through the keycaps instead of from underneath the keys themselves, and the effect looks fantastic glowing through each key’s iconography. To add keys to a zone, select a zone in the Lighting Zones pane and then select a key. You can also use the + button to create additional zones.

Logitech G513 review | TechRadar

The Strix G15 is one of the best gaming laptops that ASUS has produced till date, and when you take the price into consideration, I think it is the gaming laptop to beat in 2021. Zones: Group keys together into color zones. You can only assign an individual key to one zone at a time. The ROG Strix G15 offers a lot of pure performance and excellent build quality in a 15-inch format, but the equipment leaves a lot to be desired.Improve everyday comfort and usability with an active touchpad area that’s 85% larger than previous generations. More space means greater precision along with more comfortable hand movements and gestures while you’re navigating. The glass pad is coated in a matte finish that adds strength with a silky smooth feel. This ASUS ROG G513QM-HF070 is definitely a gamer's dream come true. Its superb, state-of-the-art technology reaches new heights of power to squeeze the most out of new gaming performance. Of course, the exclusive design and the unlimited level of customisation give it that indispensable seductive touch that gamers demand. The ROG Strix G15 offers a lot of pure performance and excellent workmanship in a 15-inch format, but connectivity leaves something to be desired. What I really like about the Strix G15 is the nice balance between resolution and refresh rate, giving the user the best of both worlds. Like nearly all of its gaming peripherals, the G513 Carbon utilizes Logitech’s Gaming Software for lighting customization and recording macros. I used an updated version of the client to review the G513, and while there’s little in the way of changes from recent iterations of the software, it’s fairly easy to use. Most notably, the G513 takes advantage of Logitech’s LIGHTSYNC functionality, which is similar to Razer’s Chroma or Alienware’s AlienFX. This system allows for deep customization of lighting animations synced to games and other compatible Logitech devices. There’s even an applet within the software that changes the colors on the G513 in-time with on-screen color changes. The new Logitech G560 speakers use the same tech to sync lighting with in-game action.

As usual with Logitech’s Gaming Software, you can also assign lighting and macros—the latter using a convenient drag-and-drop setup—to specific game titles. The software will scan your PC and look for compatible games, so the setup is fairly straightforward and simple. Unfortunately, there are no dedicated media keys or volume wheel on the G513. But the keyboard’s array of function keys do offer media control as well as other secondary actions including a key to cycle lighting effects and brightness, and to switch on a customizable game mode which prevents errant Windows key presses. As I’ll discuss later, the Logitech Gaming Software is still the preferred means for tweaking presets, but it is nice to have some functionality on-the-fly via the function keys instead of needing to do it all in software. This means that the measured response time is better than the average of all tested devices (21.8 ms). The average temperature for the upper side under maximal load is 37.8 °C / 100 F, compared to the average of 33.9 °C / 93 F for the devices in the class Gaming. As we previously mentioned, the Logitech G513 introduces a new customizable, per key RGB lighting system. It’s as bright and vibrant as the illumination that the company has integrated into its higher-end peripherals, and the new LightSync tech will help synchronize lighting effects across your entire gaming setup.Per-key lighting customization is available, as is a decent amount of lighting presets such as color wave, breathing, ripple effects, and a really cool animation that makes it appear like an ocean wave is lapping across the keyboard. As mentioned above, you can also create your own animations, either from scratch or by copying a pre-existing one and customizing it. Creating anything worth looking at definitely has a learning curve, but it’s kind of neat if you’re looking to make your keyboard truly stand out. Overall, we are very satisfied with the ROG Strix G513 with fierce specifications with the Ryzen 9 5900 HX and RTX 3060. Your Effects: create and manage your own animated lighting effects. Choose from one of the 16 presets or read Create and manage lighting effects with Logitech Gaming Software to learn how to create your own. Equilibrium is the perfect word for Asus ROG Strix G15, every chioce on this gaming notebook has a precise ratio.
