Description

Now, let’s turn our attention to their weapons. Deathwatch Veterans wield powerful swords, and for this distinctive cyan green color, we recommend Temple Guard Blue. This unique hue adds a vibrant touch to their arsenal. Additionally, take a moment to enhance the metallic components of their weaponry with Runelord Brass.

Other specialised weapons used by Terminators include Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamers, Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields, Lightning Claws and Chainfists. Although a few long-range weapons like the carapace-mounted Cyclone Missile Launcher exist for use with Terminator Armour, these weapons are rarities, for the armour is designed for savage engagements at point-blank range.

Special-issue Equipment

All of the veterans selected to form a Kill Team Strike Force have served more than one vigil. Fighting alongside brothers from different Chapters is now second nature to them. Between them, every kill team contains the collective skills and knowledge required to best any form, and all have proven able to rapidly change their preferred fighting doctrines to best the foe. The Deathwatch Veteran squad is one of the two Troops choices available to the Deathwatch army. The squad benefits from the access to some of the best wargear available to the Space Marines, as well as access to Special Issue Ammunition, which allows even the basic Veteran to take on a wide range of opponents. While they may be competing with the Deathwatch Intercessor squad, they do have access to a much wider range of weapons options and transport options than the Primaris Marines of the Deathwatch. An INDOMITOR KILL TEAM has a Power Rating of 9. If you added any models to this unit, add the following to this unit’s Power Rating:

One of the benefits of the Kraken round is the boost to its rapid fire range. You can now fire two shots with your Bolters at up to 15″ away. This has the benefit of allowing you to deploy from reserve more than 12″ from an enemy unit and still fire two shots with each Bolter. This allows you to avoid many of the interceptor-type stratagems, such as Auspex Scan, stopping your unit from taking casualties before they get a chance to fire. Deploying further away is not so bad, as you generally don’t want the Veterans in combat where their firepower is neutralised. A KILL TEAM unit includes between 5 and 10 models. Below you will find details of the four different KILL TEAM units available. Each will specify which models, and how many of each model, can be included in that KILL TEAM unit. At the end of each battle round, add 1 to a model’s Renown tally if any of the following apply (to a maximum of 10 per battle): Some First Founding Chapters are still capable of fielding a full company in Terminator armour, but most Successor Chapters are limited to using no more than a few squads at a time. It is impossible to say just how many suits of Terminator armour the Deathwatch has in the armouries of its Watch Fortresses across the galaxy. A Watch Commander always seems able to access a few suits when needed, but larger numbers must be begged from other Chapters, something the Deathwatch is loathe to ask. Terminator armour is particularly useful for combat-heavy Kill-team missions and the addition of one or two suits to a team can tip the odds decisively in their favour. [1]

These powerful scanners, worked into handheld units or perhaps mounted on armoured forearms, are thought to detect the malevolent intent that stains an enemy's spirit. The cost of the Auspex Scan Stratagem is 1CP if it is this unit that is selected. Each time this unit is selected for the Auspex Scan Stratagem, it can target a unit within 18" instead of 12". Another option that is strong for the Veterans if the Deathwatch Shotgun. A Veteran with a Shotgun comes in at 17 pts each. The shotgun has its own special ammunition, allowing you to fire a S3 flamer, or S4 shots that are re-roll failed wounds or double damage at half range (8″). This is an Assault 2 weapon (D6 for the flame option), so gives you a bit more firepower at long range or allows you to advance and still fire with some degree of accuracy. The Chapter Master and his senior officers will carefully consider each candidate and their acts of valour before granting their elevation. The members of the First Company will be entrusted with many precious mysteries hidden from the Chapter’s other Battle-Brothers, and holy artefacts of incomparable value. More than this, the First Company bears the honour of the Chapter before all others and in times of doubt and confusion it is to them the Battle-Brothers will look to for guidance. Chapter legends are littered with examples of a handful of First Company veterans expunging a stain on the Chapter’s honour despite the risks, or selflessly sacrificing themselves in the cause of victory. [1]

Getting to fire two shots when stationary is a big boost with special issue ammunition, allowing you to threaten a large number of enemy units. It is also a nice bonus for using the Auspex Scan stratagem against enemy reserves. Under the new beta rules, if the unit remained stationary, you can fire two shots at the 12″ range with the Vengeance rounds, as opposed to only one shot per model under the old rules. This gives you better odds of taking out more heavily armoured opponents that have arrived from reserve near your Veterans. Weapon Options The Deathwatch bring most of the strengths that traditional Space Marines possess. But they also have the ability to specialize enough to be a precision scalpel, perfectly designed to the task at hand. The best parts about collecting Deathwatch are the diverse origin Chapters of its Battle Brothers and their amazing wargear. This allows some really weird, funky, and retro Chapters to get their Marines out on the field with some great equipment. Strengths of the Army The Deathwatch, known also as the " Long Vigil," and the " Long Watch," is a unique Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes comprised solely of Veteran Space Marines that serves the Ordo Xenos of the Imperial Inquisition as its Chamber Militant. They are the warriors of last resort when the Inquisition needs access to firepower greater than that which the Astra Militarum or a team of its own Acolytes or Throne Agents can provide. They are now an almost necessary inclusion in a unit. Giving a entire unit of 10 Veterans a 3+ invulnerable save for only 20 pts is a huge boost to their durability. While a Storm Shield for every Veteran is a bit overkill, in my opinion, two or three in a unit of 10 is not a huge points investment in terms of the durability boosts that you are getting in return. Just remember that Veterans with a Bolter and Storm Shield cannot take a Bolt Pistol or Chainsword, and those with Heavy Weapons cannot take a Storm Shield.

If you selected this secondary objective, then after both sides have finished deploying, your opponent must select one objective marker on the battlefield to be the location of their Stronghold objective marker (if any objective markers are wholly within your opponents deployment zone, one of these must be selected to be the Stronghold objective marker). Auspex Scan is also great on the Veteran squad, given the power of the special issue ammunition. You can cause a lot of damage to enemy deep strikers on the turn they arrive. The new Beta Bolter rules also mean that if your firing unit remained stationary in their previous movement phase, they can still fire double the number of shots with the Vengeance Shells at over 9″ range, giving you the potential to do more damage against enemy reserves.

Example Army List

Rules: The Mission Tactics rule is similar to Combat Doctrines- it is a list of three bonuses, activated in the Command phase, which can be used once per battle. Rules AdaptationsIf your Faction is ADEPTUS ASTARTES, then the following rules adaptations apply to Space Marines rules found in Codex: Space Marines and Codex: Space Wolves. One of the more recent developments are the Hounds of Morkai – expert hunters who daub their bodies in runic sigils and carry special equipment to hunt down psykers. They equip themselves in the style of Reivers, but with a unique vox-amplified howl that scrambles empyrean currents as they close in for the kill.
