The Edifier R1280DB can also be placed pretty much anywhere, with the only difference being that at higher volumes, it produces more bass through its port grille. The power output of the 1700BT is 66W, which is a lot of power that will allow you to hear precisely what you want. When using the R1280Ts and DBs for gaming, you'll notice that the sound field is more precise. The high sounds are crisp and clear but not high enough to be ear-piercing or pain-inducing. These were the first "real" speakers I bought, and I've owned them for quite some time now. I used them for my computer desk at home, but ended up replacing them with some KRK Rokit 5 G3's years later. These ended up going to my desk at work.

Speakers help you enhance the quality of your PC or laptop’s audio. Most computer systems don’t come equipped with external speakers, keeping you from getting the best experience while watching your favorite movies. Meanwhile, the MDF wood enclosure is made so that it helps curb distortions of any sort. The volume knob also has an LED indicator at its bottom, so it's easier to spot. The Edifier R1280T speakers’ side panels have two wooden slats, while the top has a matte metallic finishing. The gray-colored grilles are removable and feature the Edifier logo at the bottom. That said, nobody wants to reach behind their media consoles to disconnect and reconnect things everytime they switch devices. Factor in the remote, which has a separate button for the RCA inputs and another for the optical and coaxial inputs, and you never have to get up from your comfy couch again. Edifier R1280T, with its high-quality features, has been proved to be a very well-received product among the public. It is brought to the market by reliable manufacturers and is made out of high-quality materials. The speakers have been designed to provide convenience to the users to the maximum. If you bring this product home, you will not have to get up and use the control. You can easily lie down and relax on your couch or bed while you use the speakers.

It's important to note that all four speakers boast the same design save for the output and connectivity options, remote control functionalities, and the external subwoofers on the R1280Ts and R1280DBs. Given the size and heft of these speakers compared with most PC speakers, it’s reasonable to expect a powerful and full sound – and sure enough the Edifier R1280DB deliver the goods. There’s more than enough volume for any PC setup and plenty to fill a modest-sized living room too.

To enhance the user experience, the speakers have been made compatible with all kinds of devices. You can connect your phones, laptops, or even LEDs using AUX. The speakers come with two outputs. You can easily connect your AUX wires to these outputs while keeping the speakers on one end while putting the other device on the other end. The R1700BT is composed of MDF and wood, and the R1280DB is composed of MDF. However, both speakers are really sleek and modern looking, and they certainly look like more ‘high-end’ speakers. Features The Edifier R1280T speakers excel in high-level frequencies and produce high-quality sound with an adjustable quantity. The bass of these speakers may not be perfect but offers a well-balanced sound response. R1280DB’s high-frequency penetration is perfect, and the resolution is vital. Although the sound position will not be prominent at the front, it can make us feel its existence. That may be the interpretation of the sound of the R1280DB speaker set by the Edifier.

Though it shows a different finish for both wherein it is more classic as well as plastic-ky for R1280. On the other hand, Edifier R1700BT is quite more modern because of the highlighted chrome. Removing the grilles reveal a 4” bass driver and ½” tweeter, as well as flared bass reflex port. The right (active) speaker, also houses a series of controls to dial the speaker tone across both bass and treble, independently. It also offers a single volume control dial. Design Inputs: 1 x Optical TOSLINK Input (Audio), 1 x Digital Coaxial Input (Audio), 2 x Stereo RCA Input (Audio) The Edifier R1700BT’s sound quality is exceptional. The bass has a nice punch to it and the treble sounds crisp without being tinny. The Edifier 1700BT features Bluetooth, WIFI and Spotify Connect meaning you can stream music from your phone or laptop wirelessly to the speaker using these connections. The speakers are bamboo wood finished so they look and sound natural with no unnatural colorings of any kind; this is perfect if you want a more holistic or ‘realistic’ experience. The soundstage is wide, very filling and warm sound, but can bite you if you turn up the treble too much, very impressed nonetheless. Although the R1280Ts and R1280DBs are a bit heavier than the other two sets, it's still very negligible when compared to the speakers it's meant to be placed on. On the whole, the sound of Edifier R1280DB PC speaker is quite pleasing in all aspects. It is not a wholly balanced compromise sound quality, nor is it vulgar, without characteristics, but the sound sounds so comfortable.

Moving further, the rate response for both speakers are bit different, for R1280DB is 54Hz-20KHz on the other hand, it is 60Hz-20kHz for R1700BT. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB produce a nice, punchy bass with its built-in subwoofer. The sound is rich and full while also being detailed and crisp. The sound feels larger than it actually is, probably due to the subwoofer. Paid only 165 Euros for them with free delivery, I could've bought an amp, and some more decent passive speakers, but I couldn't be bothered especially that it's a very temporary setup. The speaker also features great sound quality due to the built-in DSP or Digital Signal Processing as well as DRC Dynamic Range Control that prevents distortion. Drivers: 1 x 4.57″ / 116 mm Woofer (per Speaker), 1 x 0.51″ / 13 mm Silk Dome Tweeter (per Speaker)

Honestly, to me, I really hated these at first... Like a lot. My ears are quite sensitive to treble and distortion, both of which these speakers have in spades... Even though the treble is peaky, I always felt like things were muffled, or like certain frequencies just never made it through... It's not the kind of "airy" treble that you get from something like Beyers... Beyers are nice because they do have a lot of treble peaking yes, but the way they do it is beneficial to the "detail" of the sound in my opinion. It may hurt a bit... But it's helpful, and you can appreciate it when you're in the right mood... With these speakers, I felt like the treble peaks were more painful than Beyers, yet had zero benefit to the "detail" or "air" of the music. They just straight up hurt, yet still sounded muffled... Looking at FR, I would think that may be due to the relative dip in low mids and 2-3k region in comparison to the rest. I tried playing around with EQ some time ago, but could never really get it to a point where I was satisfied with the sound. I'm definitely looking forward to trying some more EQ's now that I can see what the problem frequencies are, and hopefully it ends up making me appreciate them more for most genres.
