David Walliams Free Fun Activities Alert! - The World of David Walliams

This is a classic Walliams book. Funny, energetic, and with a well-judged dollop of sentimentality. The action moves from a brilliantly depicted Victorian London, to the icy tundras of the North Pole, with a large cast of characters. A chance encounter brings Elsie face to face with the creature, and sparks the adventure of a lifetime – from London to the heart of the Arctic! In my writing research I've come across David Walliams' books and love them! The Ice Monster is a truly wonderful read that my 8 & 6 year old grandaughters have thoroughly enjoyed reading with me. Unfortunately, I didn’t really care for this one, which is a rather big surprise as I typically adore Walliam's books. They’re fun, inventive and silly. However, this story failed to engage me and I just didn’t enjoy it. Such a shame. He really is the Roald Dahl of the 21st century - just brilliant, and loved equally by parents and children everywhere. I don’t think he could ever write anything which isn’t brilliant.Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Now the humans need his... This was a fictional story. My favourite character was the little girl. This story was about a little girl trying to save an extinct animal from the North Pole and sets out on a boat to find her furry friend a home. I would definitely recommend this book to absolutely anyone. This is where the story becomes electrifying in every way, as a Victor Frankenstein type character arrives on the scene, and the mammoth ‘…like the biggest cuddly toy in the whole wide world,’ assumes a more animated role.
