You are not using the correct technique to fit the Cap to the Washer. Because Snap-Caps are designed and moulded to very fine tolerances, the caps cannot be pushed on "flat". The fixings you are using are too large for the Washer. This prevents the Washer from flexing as the Cap is being pushed on. The small screw caps have an outside diameter of 1/2 inch. The covers fit most screw sizes from #6 and #8 screws (M3 and M4). If your screw head is over 1/3 inch use the large size.
