Description

It was easy to both love and hate Hunter. Things could have gone so differently at many points throughout but it's like it just had to happen the way it did. It's a true sign of amazing writing to be able to write a story that is so heartbreaking and dark but pulls you through the other side cheering them on.

Let's start with my girl Isobel. She is one strong, powerful woman. She went through stuff that not many may come out strong from but she pushed all her anger, resentment, and sadness, into getting her revenge. And revenge she got. She turned herself into a rising phoenix and became the one they all feared when coming face to face with. Isobel is my queen. The fire she holds inside her is one so powerful she can burn them all. I loved her. How she held herself even though her fears would make her overthink, she overcame them with the help of the one person she loves the most. She was a bad bitch, one I strive to be. This beautiful, inked, criminal wanted to protect and shield me. He wanted a family with me. He wanted a life with me, and I wanted one with him. I made a vow to my sister that the people who harmed her all those years ago would pay, and the only currency I would accept was their lives. Isobel is a great character. She's completely damaged and so it's hard at first to really relate to her but as we get glimpses into her time being held hostage we are able to form a better view of why she is who she is and why she does what she does. Views of sea birds, dolphins, seals, and sea eagles, beach walks, and Summer Isle sunsets make this a special destination.I have been waiting for this audiobook since I listened to the Twisted City duet by Ria Wilde and was first introduced to the characters of Kingston and his sister Isobel. To say I was intrigued by these characters would have been quite the understatement, and this audiobook was everything I hoped for and more! This Series can be read as a standalone, however the plot is left at a slight cliffhanger. This couple does have a HEA. This audio is narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown & Joe Arden. A primal and raw Joe Arden is always a winner and, in this audio, he brings it. He’s so good at whisper growl in that icy, cold voice that’s just on the verge of losing control. “ ..say it again, Snow. Moan my name.” Yes, please!

However, as is so often the case, we find that the advice most worth repeating is that found in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary of English Usage: Su naturaleza dulce era como un faro para mi corazón depravado, y sabía que acercarme a ella sería su condenación. Mr. Arden as Hunter is absolutely spectacular. If I hadn't gotten hooked by the prologue, the growl in chapter four definitely sealed my fate. This is one of my favorite performances by him this year. His ability to make his voice fit with the character, keep pace, and deliver the emotional impact of what Hunter is, left me wanting more. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention how well he played the side characters, because it was phenomenal. You may have read books where you think the man will burn the entire world, but Hunter is a man of action and not just words. We get to see the destruction!! Then he meets Eleanor, and he’s instantly captivated by her, by she, unknowingly, works for the enemy. I was not keen on Mia, the heroine. It felt like she was swooping in and saving the day for people at every turn and I had a hard job warming up to her. I liked Colt , the Hero much more. He was very protective and loyal. As someone who reads a lot of MC romance, he wasn't as alpha as some Biker Heroes I have read about. Also, why is everyone blurting out their life story two minutes into a conversation? It's like every new character introduced has to explain how crappy their life was and it just made no sense. I do wish she was more confident she was too weak from in my opinion. The sex scenes were out of this world amazing!! Usually in books I get tired of them cause it just gets boring sometimes but with king and Eleanor it never did 🤭 even tho it was a fantasy of hers I was NOT expecting ace to be in that room lol the chapter wow it had me wanting a cold shower 🥵

The audio of this is utterly fantastic with a duet narration by Zara Hampton-Brown and Joe Arden. Zara did a great job differentiating between past Isobel when she was younger and more innocent from how she is in the present where she’s stronger and more certain of herself. And as always Joe is amazing with his portrayal of not only Hunter but also the other male characters in this book. You should always speak your mind. There will be times that I don't want to hear it. Times that I disagree with you. Times that I agree with you. There will be times that I know you're right, but wish you were wrong. Or I'll know you're wrong but wish you were right." After returning to London after helping the Silver's in America, they may have chased the Syndicate out of their city but Kingston wants to do more than that, he plans to shut them down from the top. After what they did to Isabelle nothing less than the end of them will satisfy them. With the information the Silver's shared with him he can finally put his plan into action. But I felt like the relationship between Colt and Mia was just ok, sexually, emotionally, all of that. Just ok.

Hunter had always been the villain in my twisted fairytale, he was never the white Knight, and he only made that clearer the night he betrayed me. I've read almost all of Emma's other books, including those she writes as Samantha Garman. I love her work because she creates beautiful, intriguing worlds filled with flawed, sometimes malevolent, characters but somehow makes you understand and respect them by the end. Lovers of her SINS series will find similarities in how she creates the hero and heroine and will be intrigued by the connections between the worlds.

Savage Heart follows the story of Hunter; undeniably a villain, assassin, deadly, obsessive and Isobel; broken, strong, survivor by any means necessary, irreparably in love with the man she wants to kill. On approximately day two or three of them knowing each other, apparently she is the "Prez's woman"(and a few chapters later we find out that the night Colt and Mia met - where they talked all of five minutes and shared a kiss - that Colt announced to his club his intention of making Mia his old lady.).
