A decade ago, as the comedy-drama Death in Paradise was becoming a television hit, Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell retired from Scotland Yard and set off for the Caribbean. Well shot and acted, and it transports you to a pleasant hotel in the Caribbean. Is Donald Pleasance making up his own dialogue? I'm sure Christie never called anyone a 'saucy mare'. Liberties are taken with the book, some good (Miss Marple's visit to the chambermaid's aunt) and some pointless (made up superstitions about the dead taking revenge). Directors should trust Christie! Jason Rafiel: Yeah, yeah! That rings a bell... I think that's what she said - something like that anyway. How do you know that? After four decades in the Met, culminating in four years as head of the murder squad, Campbell was swapping grey clouds for endless blue skies and hard pavements for white sand beaches. As 2015 unfolded, one-by-one Russia’s principal political supporters in Latin America and the Caribbean entered…

Jason Rafiel: It wasn't my idea, and the person who had it - the idea, I mean - is a little old lady who knits and wears lace. She also has a mind like a bacon slicer. Thorogood sets the stage well, with a great sub-plot involving Poole and his compulsive need to micro-manage his officers, trying the patience of everyone around him, even as they appreciate his gift for detective work. He has breathed new life into the distinctive characters I first saw on television and provides a great mystery for them to solve. I am proud to report that I was able to actually solve the mystery, but it was NOT EASY! (I stopped before the big reveal to reread key passages in the novel and work it out.) Thorogood is very skilled in misdirection and kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the book immensely. When I heard that the show's creator Robert Thorogood would be writing novels featuring the original cast of characters, I was over the moon, and continue to be with each new installment. Death in Paradise is commissioned for BBC One by Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer, and Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama. Tim Key will executive produce for Red Planet Pictures and Tommy Bulfin for the BBC. Death in Paradise is a Red Planet Pictures production and produced with the support of the region of Guadeloupe.BBC Studios will distribute the series internationally, and have so far brought the hugely successful previous ten series to audiences across the globe.Series eleven will see even more mysterious murders, guest stars galore, huge surprises and plenty of twists. How will Marlon cope without JP? Will Neville disclose how he really feels about Florence and how will she respond to this bombshell? If that’s not enough, could the return of familiar faces to the island cause trouble in paradise? Murder in the Caribbean is the fourth original story from the creator and writer of the hit BBC One TV series, Death in Paradise, featuring on-screen favourite detective, DI Richard Poole. In charge of finding these new locations, and of giving the series its rich tropical feel, is location manager James Chambers. Although all countries in Latin American ratified the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and 14—Mexico included—ratified the convention’s optional protocol that allows a special UN committee to monitor states’ compliance, these commitments have not translated to a decrease in femicides. Inspector Weston: You wouldn't know if this lady comes from a village in England called St. Mary Mead?

Under the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, signed in 1993, the United Nations (UN) defines violence against women as “ any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.” Robert wrote for many years - selling scripts to the BBC, ITV and independent film companies - but before 2011 the only script of his that was actually broadcast was a Radio 4 afternoon play called From Abstraction about the life of Paul Wolfskehl. In 2008, Robert entered the inaugural Red Planet Prize and was a chosen finalist, where he was able to pitch his 'Copper in the Caribbean' idea to Tony Jordan. By 2011, when the show was finally broadcast - making it Robert's first TV broadcast credit at the age of 39 - Robert had become something of a poster boy for 'never giving up on the dream'. The report – the first UN Human Development Report focusing on the Caribbean – is the result of extensive consultations with 450 experts, practitioners and leaders and reflect a large-scale survey with 11,555 citizens in the seven assessed countries in region: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Key explains: "We’ve had years where we’ve kind of left it to the elements, and then people were having parties in it at weekends, like tourists having parties. We were like, 'We have to secure this a little bit more now!"" The new series of Death in Paradise will air on BBC One at 9pm on Thursdays, starting on January 7 2016.

When not shuffling between caravans to interview cast members, I headed out to explore the island, driving two or three thousand feet up on the mountain road, where lianas hang from massive ficus trees and 20ft ferns seemingly explode at the roadside. Robert was educated at Uppingham School in Rutland and read History at Downing College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, he toured with the university's student comedy troupe Footlights in 1993 and was elected President in 1994. Soon after leaving Cambridge, Robert set up a theatre company that toured small theatres and schools, the highlight of which was a production of Molière's The Miser that he directed and acted in alongside Robert Webb, David Mitchell and Olivia Colman. Among its recommendations, the report calls on Caribbean governments to implement youth crime prevention through education, as well as provide job opportunities that target the marginalized urban poor.

I liked very much it, as i did the first 3 books! I am a fan of the TV show so that's to be expected.According to the UN , “violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today [and] remains largely unreported due to impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.” One in three women and girls experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, and as in Abril’s case, one in two women killed worldwide were murdered by their partners or family. Violence against women is as serious a cause of death and incapacity among women of reproductive age.
