Description

Every model in Panasonic’s 2022 OLED lineup uses the latest iteration of the company’s smart platform, My Home Screen 7.0. This supports every key streaming service and offers a new accessibility menu that provides access to voice control, audio description, dialogue enhancement and subtitles. The LX800 is the exception in the Panasonic range, and uses Android TV rather than My Home Screen. The Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV does not support QLED technology, a type of display technology that uses Quantum Dots to enhance color and contrast. QLED technology is popular for mid-range and high-end TVs, providing excellent picture quality and color accuracy. However, QLED technology can be more expensive than other types of display technology, making it less common in budget-friendly TVs like the Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV. Ambient Mode Following plenty of trial and error across multiple source types, here are my settings for best all-round results.

I’d also recommend leaving Panasonic’s Intelligent Frame Creation processing turned off for most types of content. The ‘mid’ and ‘max’ settings cause noticeable artefacts. In 2021, Panasonic introduced an Auto AI mode capable of adjusting picture quality based on the genre of content being displayed. Its 2022 TVs will be able to detect genres faster than before but the LZ2000 will also now factor in the ambient colour temperature of a room to deliver an improved experience in different lighting conditions. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. The initial TX prefix clarifies it as being for the European region, so anyone living elsewhere will find this differs when they look up a Panasonic TV (for example, North America would see TC instead). The following 77 relates to the screen size (so will obviously change across the product range), with that L a more consistent feature, clarifying it as a 2022 model up next (as opposed to 2021's 'J' range). The Z identifies the model as having an OLED panel, with 4K LEDs changing this up to an X, and Full HD LED models getting an S. According to Panasonic, the flagship LZ2000 will be around 40% brighter than last year’s model as a result. Like last year, the LZ2000 and LZ1500 sport “Master OLED Pro” panels on screen sizes 55in and up. The LZ1000 and larger LZ980 models use a less advanced “Master OLED” panel, while the 42in and 48in LZ1500 and LZ980, along with all LZ800 models, make do with a basic OLED configuration. Auto AI picture modeLZ800: The LZ800 is Panasonic’s cheapest OLED in 2022 and as such, is the least well-specced. The panel is of the basic OLED variety, while Cinema Surround replaces Cinema Surround Pro. HDMI 2.1 features are still supported, however, as are Dolby Atmos, Filmmaker mode, Dolby Vision IQ and Auto AI picture processing.

Two USBs, Ethernet, CI+ 1.4 interface, analogue input, headphone, and digital optical out make up the rest of the connections, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as the wireless options. The Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV does not support 8K Resolution. However, Panasonic offers other smart TV models that support 8K resolution, including the flagship Panasonic HZ2000 OLED TV. While 8K content is still relatively scarce, if you’re looking for the most advanced picture quality available, an 8K TV may be worth considering. HDR Technology For connections there are four HDMI inputs (one side, three rear) with input 2 supporting ARC for connection to an external sound system. Other inputs/outputs include two USBs, Ethernet, a Common Interface Plus, terrestrial and satellite antenna, RCA, PC Input/Audio, Headphone out and Digital Optical out. All very much what you’d expect. The LZ980 will be available in a new 42in screen size, while the LZ800 shares the same 42in, 48in, 55in and 65in options as the model above it. Only the LZ1000 remains unchanged, with just 55in and 65in screen sizes available. The Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV has various connectivity options allowing you to connect the TV to other devices easily. The TV has built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to connect to the internet wirelessly. The television also has Bluetooth connectivity, enabling you to connect the TV to other devices, such as speakers or headphones. The television also features two HDMI ports, a USB port, and an Ethernet port, providing a range of connectivity options. Compatibility The Panasonic TX-55LX800 is in line with the rest of Panasonic’s 2022 TVs: smartly attired, utilitarian in appearance, and not intended to hog the limelight.

LZ2000: The LZ2000 is Panasonic’s all-singing, all-dancing flagship OLED. It’s powered by the company’s most advanced chip – the HCX Pro AI Processor – runs the latest version of its smart OS, My Home Screen 7.0, and supports a wide range of HDR formats, including HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ. It’s significantly brighter than last year’s JZ2000, has an improved audio system and is now also available in a 77in screen size. The Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV does not support MicroLED technology, a new display technology that uses microscopic LEDs to create each pixel. MicroLED technology offers several advantages over other types of display technology, including excellent brightness, high contrast, and a longer lifespan. However, MicroLED technology is still in its early stages of development and is currently only available in a limited number of high-end TVs. QLED Technology File formats that are not supported by your Network Contents server (DLNA compatible server, etc.) cannot be played. The Panasonic 50-inch LX650 Android TV supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology, which enhances the contrast and color of the image to provide a more rich and more realistic viewing experience. HDR technology allows the TV to display a wider range of colors and a higher level of contrast, providing more detail in the image’s dark and bright areas. This technology is especially important for viewers who want to watch content in 4K resolution, as HDR technology further enhances the 4K viewing experience. OLED Technology
