Michael Morpurgo has thrilled and delighted huge numbers of young readers since becoming a children’s author in the early 1970s," Wood said. Blumfeld, who finally convinces him to make the move, explaining to him how this move will help end the war. The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips by Michael Morpurgo is yet another children's classic from this prolific author. His latest book is Boy Giant published by Harper Collins Children’s Books and Owl or Pussycat illustrated by Polly Dunbar and published by David Fickling Books.

In the book, Lily and her family are forced to move away from their home because the American army are using her town for bomb practise as they need to prepare for invading France. They become good friends and despite her home being out of bounds, Lily and her new friend don’t give up and do all they can to find their beloved cat, Tips. The majority of the books reviewed are about World War II, a few are about World War I and I do consider books that focus on peace. You can also read about his life in War Child to War Horse,a collaborative biography with Maggie Fergusson. One day, during the second world war, they are told they must move out because the army needs their village for training.La fortuna della protagonista è avere qualcuno che le sta al fianco e che la ama incondizionatamente. His novel War Horse has been successfully adapted as a West End and Broadway theatre play and a major film by Steven Spielberg. His language and description have been a perfect stepping stone away from young childrens books to older childrens books. Mi è piaciuto molto, l'ho trovato accurato, per nulla pesante o faticoso da leggere ma con quel tipico rigore storico che lo rende perturbante.

The only thing I didn't particularly liked though was that unexpected and quite surprising twist at the end -- well, I kind of suspected something like that would happen, but still I had mixed feelings about it. A succinctly engaging tear-jerker, it is also full of happiness and affection and has a joyful ending… It is also about people who care enough to look after each other, offering a lesson in life as well as history. He has written over 150 books, including The Butterfly Lion, Kensuke’s Kingdom, Why the Whales Came, The Mozart Question, Shadow, and War Horse, which was adapted for a hugely successful stage production by the National Theatre and then, in 2011, for a film directed by Steven Spielberg. Teachers frequently comment that a child can learn more in a week on the farm than a year in the classroom. Most of the pages are diary entries by his grandma, Lily Tregenza, when she was a young girl of 11, beginning on September 10, 1943. Boowie receives this letter after Lily has gone away on a mysterious trip following the death of Boowie’s grandfather. I think this book is good for all ages because it shows the journey of ups and downs that Lily and Adolphus face together.

Lily tells the story from just before her 12th birthday; her father has joined the army and gone away to war and she lives with her mum and grandfather on their family’s farm with her beloved cat Tips. Not going to lie this isn’t my favourite Michael Morpurgo book I was going to give it 3/5 as the main character was very irritable and overall I just wasn’t blown away but the story. Eventually Tips does find her way home again and Lily changes her name to Adolphus Tips, in honor of Adie.He has written over 100 books and won many prizes, including the Smarties Prize, Blue Peter Book Award and the Whitbread Award.
