Description

Similar to the Fearne by Swan, the 20460 comes with a 360 degree base making it ideal for left or right handed people. Sporting a simple but very stylish design, the Abbey can be picked up in either a pearly white or brooding dark grey, with the option to add a silver or rose gold trim to each of these colours respectively. Its other features include a 360 degree base, boil dry protection, automatic shut off and a 3kW heating element. While not the most tricked-out kettle on our list, this cheerily lit, clear glass model has plenty of aesthetic charm and will be perfect kitchen addition for someone out there. Available in three different colour variations of polished, copper trim and clay trim, the 72815 offers a very modern look, backed up with a bunch of useful features.

As the heating element is concealed within the base, a quick rinse is usually enough to remove any limescale which has built up inside the kettle. It was found by Russell Hobbs to be up to 70% quieter when tested against other Russell Hobbs kettles without the quiet boil technology.

The switch seems quite flimsy and it the description says the kettle has a concealed element (which i wanted) but it doesn't. Its other features are pretty much standard - a 360 degree base, concealed element, water gauge, etc. Available in three colours (red, grey and copper) you’re eyes are immediately fix on the striking colour.

It took just 2 mins 22 secs to boil 1l of water, which is on par with the rest of the 3,000W models tested. Boil-dry technology comes as standard (as with many on our list) and a 360 degree base increases it’s ease of use. It’s base is light, so the wire does dictate which way the base sits, which it a common issue with kettles with a strong wire. Good capacity– Having a kettle which holds a good amount of water is a positive for those who make more than one from the same boil. They are less susceptible to damage caused by mineral deposits than electric kettles and require neither a mains plug nor space on your work surface.Making a brew with the Quiet Kettle is effortless, thanks to the Perfect Pour Spout, which allows you to enjoy a streamlined flow of water, straight from your kettle to your cup. It features an overhead, almost circular handle, a ring lift off lid, and a perfect pour spout which reduces dripping and splashing. When measured against previous Russell Hobbs kettles without quiet boil technology, the Buckingham Kettle had an up to 75% reduction in noise.

Thanks to its 3,000W heating element, it also proved itself a speedy boiler in our group test, matching other similarly powerful models with its one litre boil time of 2 mins 20 secs. Its sleek, matte finish and general design are beautiful and the range of colours available make it easy to tailor its look to suit your kitchen. Featuring a classic brushed stainless steel design and blue internal illumination and easy to see water window – the Quiet Boil Kettle has everything you need for a great cuppa. Also, be aware that the manufacturer’s boiling time claims are often based on how long it takes room temperature water to boil. We also like the smooth-acting temperature setting lever on the bottom, which allows you to heat water to between 50°C and 100°C, in 10°C increments, ideal for a variety of drinks. While we liked the Russell Hobbs Attentiv best overall, the Bosch Styline is no slouch, providing a great alternative for anyone not quite won over by the Attentiv.
