We don’t recommend this toy in houses where very young kids will have access because the metal marbles are smaller than ordinary glass marbles and are so shiny that they’ll be an attractive choking hazard to infants and toddlers. Barefooted parents may dislike stepping on the hard plastic towers, but this is a minor quibble. Alternatives to Gravity Maze that teach similar skillsI can’t say I have been much help, but I love watching our son hold the pieces and solve the challenges. My husband has got really into it too, so I do what I can, but mainly marvel at their maze-mindedness. Any-hoo, when I saw Gravity Maze, I knew it would be right up his street. As a big fan of marble runs and Rollercoaster Challenge, he loves grabbing pieces and using them to create his own designs – imagination and logic coming together in clever harmony.

Article number: Have the community input – I will add any suggestions that I can do” What is the current state of the Early Access version?“Current state is rough but playable. Gravity Maze teaches logic, spatial orientation, building, and problem-solving. Other puzzles that yield similar logic and problem-solving skills include ThinkFun’s Rush Hour (a classic), Balance Beans and Solitaire Chess. ThinkFun has carved out a deep niche in the “logic puzzle to play alone” genre. For other building games that teach logic but are NOT made by ThinkFun, you should also consider Castle Logix by SmartGames (1 player) and Make & Break by Ravensburger (multiple players, timed). Finally, for those that want a toy more than a puzzle, consider Creative Color Cubes by Learning Resources, which provides a more open-ended creativity component without the logic challenges. Value, durability, and longevity: Is Gravity Maze a good buy? There are 11 rules that must be followed when building – all pretty intuitive stuff. But we did miss a couple the first time we tried it so our success induced smugness was short lived! In the box there are 60 x challenge cards ranging from beginner to expert level. There’s also a grey 3D grid, 10 x 3D coloured towers of varying heights, and 3 x stainless steel marbles. We gave Gravity Maze only mediocre marks, 3 out of 5, on Complete Insanity because if you lose one of the towers, the game is significantly impacted, perhaps unplayable. This is ameliorated somewhat because the towers are fairly large, so they’re not easy to lose. The marbles are easily lost, but ThinkFun helpfully provides 2 extras. The loss of one of the 60 cards isn’t a big deal (you just won’t play that specific challenge anymore), but those towers are indeed critical to gameplay, as is the playing board. The educational side of Gravity Maze should not be overlooked. Sure, the fun factor will keep your child engaged for hours, but at the same time they will be improving their problem solving skills and increasing their spatial reasoning. Often, figuring out something on their own is the most rewarding part of learning for a child and Gravity Maze offers a tangible hands-on method of experimenting with cause and effect that also offers a sense of accomplishment. those who really enjoy puzzles will be happily immersed for hours at a time. What ages of kids will enjoy Gravity Maze?I am incredibly blessed to have a whip-smart 7-year-old. He’s so engineeringly minded that it’s like living with a 1.2m version of my husband! If he can hold something, he wants to deconstruct it and find out how it works. And then build a better version!
