Description

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a blend of three straight bottled in bond whiskeys: 60% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye, 20% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, and 20% Jack Daniel’s American Malt. The medium to long finish trails off nicely, meeting the expectations initially set by the whiskey’s aroma.

Notably, 700mL is a more common bottle size globally, so the 750mL we're accustomed to here in the United States is the oddity, not the other way around. It seems obvious that such a popular whiskey brand would run the gamut with their signature flavor profile, especially one as distinct as Jack Daniel’s. distillery—60 percent Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye, 20 percent Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and 20 percent Jack Daniel’s American Malt. Messing with their classic Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey flavor profile would have been unheard of not that long ago. After distillation, Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey undergoes what is referred to as the ‘Lincoln County Process.the palate boldly fruited with cinnamon apple, some citrus, and a layer of sesame, then a bigger nutmeg element and a hint of peanut brittle later in the game. It’s also slightly sweeter on the palate, exhibiting a distinctive honey note, along with more pronounced black pepper notes that linger over the finish. More potent is the aroma’s winter spice foundation, of which props up the entire nose in a warming embrace. At times, those methods do work to develop flavors that stray from the mainstream, and this year’s Bonded series works to make a good argument for the distiller’s recipe.

It’s smooth, with a noticeable palate weight, and exhibits pronounced caramel and butterscotch notes accompanied by stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors, along with cinnamon and a bit of clove. The fact is, the Jack Daniel Distillery is making some of the best whiskey on the planet, and with their expansion into the bourbon and whiskey enthusiast realm, they are continually earning their stripes among even the most critical critics. According to Fletcher, the distillery plans to introduce an American Single Malt expression in the future.Jack fans will likely love the new playspace it offers them, and passers-by might have their curiosity piqued. While Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is often looked at by some as an entry level whiskey for the binge jetset, it offers far more value - both monetarily and in quality - than the majority of other bottom shelf whiskeys. On the nose: Warm vanilla and orange peel walk hand in hand in such synchronization that you cannot tell one from the other or what the two of them are creating together.

According to the TTB, “These new container sizes will provide bottlers with flexibility by allowing the use of the added container sizes, and will facilitate the movement of goods in domestic and international commerce, while also providing consumers broader purchasing options. While the change in bottle size leaves room for further debate on the issue at large, Jack Daniel’s Bonded is a hit, plain and simple.

The finish is more warming than the Bonded, with a little less cohesiveness to it, though it’s never short of engaging. The Jack Daniel distillery has just announced the release of two new, permanent additions to its core range. Single Barrel is usually very good (the Coy Hill release was probably the highest proof whiskey I’ve ever tried, for better or worse), the 10-Year-Old was one of my favorites of the past year, and the Tennessee Tasters series has had some welcome surprises. There is a refinement and restraint in this 100 proof bottle that a “craft” distiller would shout about from the mountain tops and charge you double for.

Jack Daniel’s new Triple Mash Blended Straight Whiskey and Bonded Tennessee Whiskey represent the first two permanent expressions in the brand’s new Bonded Series. The packaging of the two expressions was, according to Master Distiller Chris Fletcher, inspired by the original design of the 1895 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey bottle. Jack just released the first two expressions in its Bonded Series: Jack Daniel’s Bonded, a BIB Tennessee whiskey, and Triple Mash Bottled-in-Bond, the focus of this taste test. That trademark banana bread is present, along with some tannic spice, brandied cherry, leather wallet and bitter cocoa powder notes, followed by a pleasantly hot finish. It’s fun when a new whiskey comes to market that gets you excited, and Jack Daniel’s Bonded gets me excited. Color: I originally thought this one was a shade lighter than bonded but felt the red label was throwing me off.
