Conical burrs are different than flat burrs, and you can find burr grinders with both. Flat burrs do produce even more consistent grind than the conical, but they are far more expensive.With unique speed control, the Virtuoso+ uses a combination of gear and electronic speed reduction to control the rotation of the burr to 500RPM. This slow speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation in the grinder. It also ensures that the beans feed smoothly into the burrs. They come with far more control, which allows grinders, like the Virtuoso+ Conical Burr Coffee Grinder, to have grind settings ranging from fine to coarse with 40 settings in between.
