Description

Designed from the ground up, the Define R6 goes beyond iteration with a profound stride of innovation – a sizeable step forward from preceding models of the world-renowned Define Series.

The conversion isn’t anything as dramatic as invertible cases like the Dark Base 900, but it’s also a little beyond just removing the hard drive cages. The Define R6 also uses sound dampened steel panels, offers future-proof component support and provides room for numerous storage drives.Because the fan controller only contains 9 (6xnon-PWM|4xPWM) headers I opted to plug one case fan into a fan header on the motherboard. Starting with the unboxing, good pakaging considering that that it should be for the tempered side panel, the case has good quality build with thick metal every way, 3 140mm fans included.

And third, I had to align the Fractal Define C two drive cage as high as possible by putting some hard foam underneath it, you'll still want 6-32nd x 1/2" screws with nylon washer nuts to secure Define C drive cage to the bottom of the case. Since Fractal sent us the proper PCIe riser cable, we didn’t have to strap everything together with zip ties and the GPU and CPU coolers didn’t make contact--this is just how it is with air-cooled components in this configuration. Three silent, airflow-optimized Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP-14 140 mm fans come pre-installed helping ensure superior airflow via two intake fans and a single exhaust.Did another test by adding 2 top intake fans - assumption is they would blow air down towards the GPU section. This value subtracts the thermo-logged ambient value from the measured diode temperatures, producing a delta report of thermals. Didn't give me too much bad surprise, the PSU shroud and bottom mount issue, I already knew them before getting the case. Gen 2 Type-C with Fast Charging support and up to 10Gbps transfer speeds - Reversible front door with anodized aluminum cover and dual-handed mounting system for adaptability with elegance - Nine fan positions with intuitive layout and clear airflow paths offer massive cooling capacity - Nexus+ Smart Hub offers superior fan control of six additional case fans and three PWM devices via your motherboard - Three silent, airflow-optimized Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP-14 140 mm fans come pre-installed, ensuring optimal airflow via two intake fans and a single exhaust - Extensive water cooling support with room for up to a 420 mm radiator in the top, 360 mm in the front, and 280 mm in the base - Power supply shroud and Modular Storage Plate conceal HDD trays and excess cabling for a clean, clutter-free interior - Third generation ModuVent(tm) technology gives users the choice between a soundproof steel cover or filtered multi-fan ventilation in the top panel - Easy-to-clean high airflow nylon filters on the front, top, and base with full PSU coverage and front access for convenience - Modular Storage Plate lets users easily convert between the Standard Layout for maximum storage capacity or the new Open Layout for superior water cooling support and clear air flow paths - Vertical 2. I think it does add to structural integrity somewhat, but if it can be taken off, building the case woulda been easier.

I selected this bracket because it was all-metal, supported 2 SSDs in addition to the single HDD, and does not block PCIe cards or Fractal Design SSD trays. I had a few extra 140s and 120s lying around and purchased a few extra to give myself a total of 5 x 140mm + 4 x 120mm fans. Any time I add irreplaceable data to Dorothy I rotate Baret's disks once replication completes so my off-sites always contain my most precious data. I have them connected to the fan controller on the case, and the PWM cable on the fan controller plugged into the mobo 4pin.A lot of this comes down to that shroud: Although the enclosure gets decent airflow into it -- roughly on-par with a case that has 2x 200mm front fans, no less -- the shroud is trapping some heat from the open face card.
