The Pope's Exorcist' Sequel in Early Development!". Bloody Disgusting. April 25, 2023. Archived from the original on April 26, 2023 . Retrieved April 27, 2023. The duo attempt to exorcise Henry, without success, as he utters blasphemous phrases during the rite. Henry's demon even possesses Amy at times. Amorth finds Julia has not been a religious believer since childhood. Still, he convinces her to pray after she reveals she believed her guardian angel helped her in her youth. As an exorcist, your initial step is to ask the demon's name. He might tell you. He might refuse. He might pretend not to be there. He might lie. He might obfuscate to throw you off the scent. However, none of this indicates that asking him is a useless exercise.

In general, we can confirm that the movie The Pope’s Exorcist is based on the real exorcisms performed by Father Gabriel Amorth in his life. There is no documented case of an exorcism performed by Father Amorth in Segovia, Spain, on a little child named Henry, so it is safe to assume that the specific exorcism presented in the movie is fictional. But the characteristics of that exorcism, the conversations between the priest and the possessed kid, and most of the events we see are based on two of the most popular books written by Gabriele Amorth: An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories. Maybe if this had been written more recently, or it had been written by someone with a more loving, understanding, and inclusive perspective....I could've been more patient with the pieces of the story (because it is a story) that don't make sense to me. I could have been understanding when things that I consider to be deeply meaningful in their symbology (and that reveal truth) are spoken as unattested historical fact. To account for the high number, Amorth purported that a person might be possessed by more than one demon at once, sometimes numbering in the thousands. He also attributed the number of exorcisms performed to his opinion that "People have lost the Faith, and superstition, magic, Satanism, or ouija boards have taken its place, which then open all the doors to the presence of demons." Through the use of translators, I sent Father Amorth detailed correspondence where I assured him of my religious devotion and sincere desire to respect his exorcism ministry,” Kaczmarek said, adding that his partnership with Siebert helped convince Amorth of his intent to preserve the story’s religious integrity. The Catholic church first published the Rituale Romanum in 1614, which laid down the rules for how exorcisms should be performed. As recently as 1990, the church was sanctioning the televising of such rituals, but they have more recently become a more contentious issue. Amorth’s decades of demon-hunting offers a fascinating look at a centuries-old practice. Becoming “The Pope’s Exorcist”

Amorth, Gabriele (2006). Dietro un sorriso: Beata Alexandrina Maria Da Costa. Leumann [Rivoli!]: [Elledici]. ISBN 88-01-03477-6. OCLC 955992744. Although Amorth was clearly passionate about his craft, it led to a few bizarre claims about world events and popular culture. For example, Amorth told Vatican Radio in 2006 he believed that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and Soviet dictator Josef Stalin were both possessed by the devil. Then, in 2015, he said the same about ISIS. The author states how important is to submit to the authority of the Church, yet admits to performing thousands of unauthorized exorcisms. Obviously as seen above most of those were completely unnecessary. And he performed them in spite of disobeying the Church and his own admission that people with mental health issues might suffer from the wrong belief they are possessed reinforced by needlessly receiving an exorcism. Great job, father. One, to be clear, I am a spiritual person who finds truth in every religion and spiritual practice. I was raised Catholic and find so many of the Catholic traditions beautiful, meaningful, important, significant, and filled with truth. I also am a yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, have studied Buddhist meditation, astrology, mythology, and have many personal pagan practices. By those accounts, I suspect this author would happily let me know I was going to hell, despite the fact that my most meaningful spiritual practice is... a b "The Pope's Exorcist (2023)".
