Our biO-ring filter upgrade kit gives you additional Biological filtration and also allows you to choose a gravel of your choice rather than the Ceramic Media that biOrb supply. We recommend a gravel no smaller than 3mm in size so not suitable for sands or soils. We have run these in a marine tank with coral gravel, a planted tank pea gravel and a cold water keeping the ceramic media. Why should I use Humidimist? Tap water has a lot of impurities in it. It’ll clog and calcify the misting unit and it’ll also settle as watermarks on the inside of your globe. Humidimist is perfectly balanced to give your plants the humidity they need, but not to damage the delicate components in your biOrb AIR. If setting up from scratch: Simply sleeve the biO-ring over the outside of the filter housing prior to adding ceramic media or a gravel of your choice. We recommend a gravel size of 3mm and up. To clean we suggest using your gravel gleaner and push it into the foam to extract any trapped particles. These should be replaced every 12-18 months How long should I leave it before adding my first fish? You should leave the biOrb running for at least 24 hours before adding your first fish as this allows the water to stabilize. If you are using tap water always use the de-chlorinator provided. Why is my Misting Unit only working occasionally? The misting unit will only mist when the humidity has dropped. The biOrb AIR has been designed to retain humidity and reduce the need for repeated topping up of the misting reservoir.
