My sister made a last-minute booking for our mum's 87th Birthday. Five adults and three (lively) children, spanning four generations.

The tea room was tastefully decorated with open French doors leading out to well-tended gardens. The service was faultless. The staff were warm and friendly.... Nothing was too much trouble which made us feel really welcome. Tea stand arrived and all was very pretty , sandwiches though were very poorly filled, scones lovely and good selection of tasty sweets . The scones and pastries were to die for!! We were given Laura Ashley party boxes to take home what we couldn't eat which was a really nice touch. Fantastic value for money, the footstools can also be used as extra seats for when you need double the chairs, or if you take the cushions off, they create perfect mini tables for when you need extra surface space - ideal for large BBQs and summer parties.Please note: delivery to destinations including Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, and any offshore Islands will incur a delivery surcharge. Please consult with our team for costs before purchasing The service was pleasant and effective. However, the tea offering did leave a bit to be desired. The bread was commercial sliced. Ham and mustard had been very heavy on the mustard to the point where some of our party had to scrape off the mustard. On the plus side the scones were warm and the warm tart was very nice. The chocolate sandwich was good and the pomegranate posset was very pleasant. Tea refills were plentiful. The menu offers a choice of set meals with prices to suit every budget, including a children's menu. They offer a wide selection of teas, the staff are knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations for non tea drinkers like me. We strongly recommend that you store your parasol when not in use, especially during winter months. We do not recommend leaving your parasol out in poor weather or unattended in furniture when a gust of wind could cause damage. You should ensure your parasol is clean and dry to prevent any mould or mildew forming when folded and stored. The children’s afternoon tea is lovely but despite promising donuts and sauce there weren’t any and it was only when we mentioned this that the lovely young waitress told us they don’t do them anymore. Not a huge deal but rather disappointing for a six-year-old who is expecting them.

And for those times when you just want to escape the world and enjoy the summer air, our cube set provides you with the perfect spot in which to relax, pull out the footstools, put your feet up and sink into those soft padded cushions. The staff presented my mum with a cake and sang 'happy birthday' and then I was presented with the Bill. I was pleasantly surprised. It was almost half of what I was expecting.Random people kept coming up, asking if we were enjoying our meal then loitering as we felt increasingly awkward.
