Description

Many bouncers go beyond your basic bouncing and include additional features, like the Ingenuity InLighten Bouncer, which has a toy bar, music, and vibrations. According to Dr. Murray, minimal, smooth motion and stimulation moderation are key, because the more you stimulate a baby, the more stimulation they will expect, she explains. While added features like a toy bar or vibrations are great for keeping a baby entertained, they’re not always necessary. Ease of Cleaning Katrina Cossey is a commerce writer, enthusiastic shopper, and devoted mom. She spent several years in broadcast journalism but found her true passion in writing about the best products for families, pregnant people, and kids of all ages. She’s researched thousands of baby products, toys, gifts, and more and personally tested many of them. In her spare time, you’ll likely find her in the beautiful outdoors of Oklahoma with her husband and 3-year-old son. Katrina used a now-discontinued Graco baby bouncer and swing combo when her son was born. She appreciated having a spot for her son to sit or swing in while she finished dishes or folded laundry.

Unfortunately, the Cybex Lemo does not fold for compact storage, but its slim design makes up for it. We carried the bouncer and a sandbag (one in each hand), and it always felt manageable. While not ideal for travel, it's a solid option for its simplicity and adaptability that grows with your child, allowing you to use it as long as possible at home or grandma and grandpa's house. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items.

Lights, music, action! The Ingenuity InLighten Bouncer is eye-catching, featuring a removable light-up toy bar and vibrations. The toy bar lights up, alternating between blue and purple lights, and features two plush toys to keep the baby busy. If your little one is crying, the bouncer plays several sounds to help calm them down, like soft melodies, white noise, and nature sounds. You can also make the bouncer vibrate with the push of a button. You'll need three size C batteries (not included) to use the lights, music, and vibration (it automatically shuts off after 30 minutes to save battery life). Babies can utilize these exciting features while reclining in one of two positions. We had no issues changing the recline levels thanks to clear instructions and labeled buttons. The inclusion of a toy bar is a brilliant addition. The colorful toys are not only visually stimulating for my baby, but they also encourage motor skill development. It's a win-win! Plus, the detachable feature makes it easy to switch in and out as needed. The Ingenuity automatic bouncer is a sleek and straightforward to operate solution for keeping your baby safe and comfortable, with a patented technology, the bouncer can be stonishes organic baby matter with ease. Whether your baby is formula-based or not, the Ingenuity automatic will automatic dangerously safely take over by air-haulinage. The vibrations feature is a true lifesaver. It provides a gentle and soothing motion that instantly calms my baby. It's like a magic touch that lulls them into a peaceful state, making naptime or quiet moments a breeze.

Most of the time, you can wipe down the baby bouncer’s frame, but refer to your unit’s manual first. Some baby bouncers feature a wooden frame, so you may not want to use certain cleaners on the material. Stokke Steps Bouncer: The Stokke Steps Bouncer has many great features we love, like its cushiony padding, adorable design, and a five-point harness—and it all arrives fully pre-assembled. However, we encountered too many problems with this bouncer during testing; from its confusing instructions to instability, the whole unit was difficult to use.

Also saw one saying it doesn’t Bounce. No it doesn’t bounce automatically. You have to bounce it like all other bouncers. Push on it, it’ll bounce. We love the slim profile and modern, high-end look of the Cybex Lemo Bouncer. It's ideal for small spaces, measuring 24 x 17.3 x 21.7 inches, and doesn't plug into an electrical outlet or require batteries—babies can bounce naturally by moving their bodies, or adults can lend a hand with manual bouncing. However, we need to note that the tag on the bouncer states babies can sleep in the bouncer, but the AAP and our experts advise against that. The company's warning manual also states the bouncer "is not intended for prolonged periods of sleeping." We, our experts, and the AAP do not recommend babies fall asleep in a bouncer due to the risk of suffocation and potential death.

If your baby falls asleep in a bouncer, immediately move them to a safe sleep space (crib, play yard, or bassinet). Dr. O'Shea warns that even if you’re sitting nearby and watching, your baby is still at risk if they sleep in a bouncer. Bright Starts Portable Baby Bouncer: Playful and interactive, this Bright Starts baby bouncer is full of fun, from its adorable designs to its removable toy bar. Sadly, the toy bar flew off during the stability test, and its large footprint isn’t ideal for small spaces. Moreover, we thought the bouncer moved too much across the floor (when bouncing) with and without the sandbag. We love the amount of thought that went into the design of the Chicco E-Motion Auto-Glider and Bouncer. It’s sleek, modern-looking, and slim enough to store in small spaces despite being automated. The bouncer offers 10 minutes of a gliding motion, which can restart automatically thanks to motion-sensing technology when a baby naturally moves or if a parent nudges the unit.

Our least favorite part of the bouncer is its assembly: It arrives in more than five pieces and they all require some assembly. For example, the frame pieces installed into the feet and the seat cover needed to be put on, which was the most complicated step. It took us several tries to get the cover on without looking at the manual first. Once we looked at the instructions (which are super straightforward), the step became much easier, with the secret being you need to angle the bouncer. Once fully assembled, the bouncer is solid and sturdy and doesn't wobble from side to side with or without its sandbag weight. The seat has great depth, and the straps on the restraint system can be changed effortlessly between two sizes for babies 8 pounds and up—though we wish the straps could tighten more to accommodate smaller babes. To begin our research into the best baby bouncers, we spoke with Elizabeth Murray, DO, MBA, FAAP, a board-certified pediatrician at the University of Rochester Medical Center, faculty director for Child Health and Safety Communications at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Benjamin Hoffman, MD, CPST-I, FAAP,a professor of pediatrics at the Oregon Health & Science University, AAP president-elect, and chair of the AAP Council on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention; and Molly O’Shea, MD, FAAP, a pediatrician at Birmingham Pediatrics in Michigan. All three experts provided us with valuable information regarding baby bouncer safety and what to look for when buying a bouncer. In addition, we reviewed guidance from the AAP, WHO, and CDC on how to keep a baby safe in a bouncer and how long a child can use one. No batteries are necessary to make the Ergobaby Evolve Bouncer do its thing; a baby’s natural movement bounces the unit, but adults can manually bounce it for newborns, too.

After studying the pros and cons of dozens of baby bouncers on the market, we narrowed our list down to 16 options that met the safety criteria and guidelines suggested by our experts. Then, seven parenting editors evaluated them at the Verywell Testing Lab in New York City, with the help of Ebony Barrett, PNP, a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner. We assessed each baby bouncer on several attributes, including assembly, design, stability, ease of use, portability, ease of cleaning, and overall value. Following the incline test, we removed the sandbags from the bouncers and folded the units when possible. We looked for ease of use or difficulty, folded sizes, and if the bouncer was effortless to carry from one end of the lab to the other. Despite its circular design creating a larger footprint, we're impressed with how lightweight the bouncer feels when carried across the lab. However, we don't recommend this baby bouncer for traveling, as it doesn't fold for portability. Moreover, it may not fit in every car trunk because it's not compact. We recommend this baby bouncer stay at home or at Grandma and Grandpa's house. This bouncer offers many great functions to entertain a baby, and the affordable price is the cherry on top.
