Description

Royal Salute was launched by Chivas Brothers on 2 June 1953 in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her coronation as a luxury Scotch whisky brand. It takes its name from the traditional 21-gun salute and fittingly, Royal Salute whiskey are aged for a minimum of 21 years. Only 2500 cases of Royal Salute were ever produced, and each bottle contains a spirit that brings with it an experience no drinker will never forget. Showered with royal warrants since 1843, Chivas Brothers has more than returned the favour with Chivas Regal and a bevy of other blends with the word ‘royal’ in the title. Of these, the most prestigious is Royal Salute, launched in 1953 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Older releases have included a 40-year-old bottled in a red Baccarat bottle to mark the Queen’s 40th anniversary, the 50-year-old Coronation Cask, and the 45-year-old Tribute to Honour. Vintage:

FINISH: The whisky finish ends in notes of spice and toffee. The Royal Salute has a medium-long finish. A fruity, smokey and floral nose greets the drinker, before notes of chocolate, dried fruits, caramel and toasted oak wash over the palate. The Royal Salute’s finish contains subtle notes of white raisin and cherry blossoms floating on a long and luxurious finish. PALATE: It is very smooth. Tasting it brings notes of vanilla and sweetness to the palate. There is an abundance of fresh fruit and little hints of smoke. It is not the most complex whisky and quite thin on the mouth. But the flavours of oak and barley combine with fresh fruit and becomes amazingly balanced. There are faint hints of spice and ginger.
