Description

Nose A warm coffee house in Seattle; roasting beans, the oily nuttiness in a fine espresso, there are little notes of malt and cereal and butter from the pastry counter with rich orange from the fruit bowl on the counter. In 1839 Alexander Matheson purchased Ardross Farm and opened a distillery, overlooking the Cromarty firth. The sherry really comes on the scene when you taste the whisky with cinnamon, dried fruits, and bitter chocolate while the finish is pleasant and of decent length. In this, our entry level expression we have sought balance and richness by selecting malts in a 50:50 recipe – 50% from ex bourbon barrels and 50% from ex-sherry butts. The distillery predominantly uses Oloroso and PX sherry casks to create fruity and chocolatey single malts that make for an exceptional digestif.

Matured for 9 years in Bourbon casks, one half is then transferred in to 30 year old Matusalem oloroso sherry butts. The palate carries a lace-y quality combining rich barrel flavors with a backbone of toasted cereals.

He hand-selects the casks from the world's finest wineries, bodegas and distilleries and ages the whiskies in them to create something truly remarkable. Rich for its age with the smell and taste of roasted coffee, Dalmore 12 Year Old is a beautiful single malt loved by many a whisky fan. As a reward the grateful King granted him lands and also the right to use the 12-pointed Royal Stag as the Mackenzie clan crest. uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The 12 year old was Andrew Mackenzie's original masterpiece and at the time where it was the norm to mature whisky for six years, Andrew Mackenzie demonstrated his pioneering character by being one of the firsts to double the maturation period and his boldness paid off. It sits on the banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle, the "big meadowland", from which it takes its name.

The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers. The core range, known as the Principle Collection, starts with the entry-level 12 Year Old , rising to the luxurious 21 Year Old .
