But they learn that the DIA believes solving the murder is now a matter of urgent national security. Just when you think the book is over because they've solved "everything," there's more, and it kept me hanging on the edge of my (driver's) seat. The Christmas Train, Baldacci's eighth novel, was adapted in 2017 by Hallmark Channel as a Hallmark Hall of Fame feature presentation.

Amos Decker stands alone when compared to other thriller protagonists on the market today, making the series novels highly interesting and entertaining. The first 2 books in this series were inspired and I was totally expecting the 3rd to continue that standard. David published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996; the feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. I am a fan of David Baldacci and to date I have read/listened to over 20 (novels) of his prodigious output.Amos Decker is walking to the FBI building in Washington DC when he witnesses Walter Dabney, a prominent owner of a government contracting firm, pull out a gun and shoot a woman who was also walking in that vicinity. thrust into the investigation decker and his team look into both dabney and berkshires lives to find no connection between both people, dabney with a consulting business and berkshire a schoolteacher they are so far apart in worlds it makes no sense with what happened at headquarters. Decker is experiencing the benefits of being part of a team after the circumstances of his tragic past and it humanizes him and the story. Dabney picked up his pace a bit, his Allen Edmonds wingtips striking the stained pavement with purpose.
