Description

Whether manual or electric, dried meat cutters are not dishwasher-friendly, safe; they must be washed by hand.

All the protein remains in the biltong, so you are getting double the amount of protein in half the serving. If you’re still using a knife to cut your biltong, you’re doing it all wrong! Not only do you have to sharpen your knife to get through that tough meat constantly, but you also run the risk of slicing your fingers instead of the biltong. Yikes! They needed to carry food with them, so they learned to preserve meat while travelling by slicing it into strips, curing it with salt and hanging it in trees to dry. When the Dutch, French Huguenots and German settlers arrived in South Africa in the 17th, the hot climate made it essential for them to find a way to store meat without it spoiling.

How We Make Our Biltong

We recommend using Silverside or Topside cuts as these cuts of beef work well. In addition, you can use game meats like kudu, impala and springbok. Traditional Biltong Recipes Cutting biltong is not difficult, but it does require taking good care of your tools. Keep your knife sharp, maintain your biltong cutter, and be sure to follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. With a little patience and the right equipment, you’ll be able to enjoy delicious homemade biltong anytime you want. As we know, eating biltong has many benefits: it is full of protein, low in fat, and full of vitamins and minerals. It keeps you fuller longer and builds healthy red blood cells, and looks after your nervous system. This will ensure that your biltong is even; it will be easier to cut since you won’t be compacting the meat fibers, and keep your fingers safe, too. Impatience leads to spoiled biltong and can even lead to a trip to the emergency room!

Magnetically attached stainless steel serving tray with its clever design you can store it on the underside of the base However, be careful when seasoning super-thin biltong slices as it’s easy to overdo it, especially with the salt. It should cure in just 24-48 hours. What about a biltong slicer? Biltongmakers – Biltong Cutter While this works, it usually leads to quite a mess as small pieces of dried meat fly all over the place. With a single push on the handle of a biltong slicer, you can cut your dried meat into even and neat pieces. 4. It’s more consistent Your most important skill – especially if it’s is an electric machine, and even more so if there is an electric feed – is to resist the urge to push and pull the meat yourself. You want to develop a gentle-yet- firm and even pressure as you feed the machine (or let the machine do it itself if there is an electric feed). While your first few biltong cuts may be a bit haphazard, it’s a skill that comes with time and practice, so don’t get discouraged!

As more people came to Cape Town, there was a need for people to move north into the space of the open country. How it works: To begin, you will need to place the unit on a stable surface such as a countertop, then position the biltong on the edge of the blade and turn the handle to begin cutting. There is a screw on the outside of the handle that allows you to adjust the blade to either thinly slice or chop your biltong. 3. The Electric Biltong Cutter Hang the meat to dry. Make sure there is enough space between the meat and that it is not touching, as this will cause the meat to go mouldy. Learning how to make biltong at home is easy and a fantastic way to spend time with your family and highly rewarding.

The total time to make biltong is around 20 minutes, excluding leaving it to marinate for 8 hours. Then, when the biltong is ready, we use the biltong cutter to share it evenly. I hope you enjoy making biltong. The Best Biltong Recipe

Did you know that your Internet Browser is out of date?

Depending on your preference, you can use white vinegar, brown vinegar, or cider vinegar. We prefer cider vinegar. We place the cider vinegar in a spray bottle. This makes it easy to cover the meat by spraying each side of the meat. Biltong Spices You can save even more time using an electric slicer or a manual slicer with a slicing blade. (More on this below) 3. It is cleaner After cutting the meat, I lay it side by side in a dish and spray it with vinegar. I use a spray bottle with vinegar as it is easier to coat the meat, and the meat is not drenched in vinegar. Now you can simply prepare and enjoy your biltong according to your taste and preference, using your favourite recipes of spices and choice cuts. Unique design facilitates fine slicing with both a simultaneous cutting and rolling, shearing action

I let the meat rest for 8 hours. I turn the meat around at the 4-hour mark to let the other side marinade. I also drain excess liquid from the bowl. Blade Sharpener: The more you use your slicer, the duller the blade will become over time. For this reason, you need to buy a slicer that comes with a sharpener. Or at least with the possibility of being able to sharpen it. Biltong Cutters: Safety Precautions When you make biltong, you don’t cook the meat like Jerky. Instead, you use the air to dry it. This means that biltong takes longer before it is ready to eat. If you use a knife, position your dried meat on a clean, flat surface like a cutting board and simply slice through the biltong as you would any other food.Brand: well-known or trusted brands are known to offer quality products and reliable after-sale services. If you choose a trusted brand (not from AliExpress!), the chances of buying low-quality, short-lived products are very low, and it’ll be easier to find replacement parts. The longer you hang the meat, the drier it gets, depending on your climate conditions and location. There are always times when your biltong is too dry, making it difficult to cut, or maybe your knife isn’t sharp enough. Depending on your home setup, you may need to slice your future biltong meat to hang to dry. Remember that you need room around your strips of meat to dry evenly, so try to cut each piece long enough to fit in your biltong box. You’ll need about 2cm/0,78 inches of clearance at the bottom of the box. If you need more, you’re not using the unit to its full potential. The Biltong king biltong maker allows you to enjoy great tasting home-made biltong, drywors, jerky and dried fruit at a fraction of the cost.
