Deeply unrewarding, lacking in affirmation, and worse, rather insincere due to the lack of emotional impact and paucity of credible characters. This time, Katniss becomes a symbol of hope for the people of Panem and inadvertently sparks a rebellion against the Capitol. Then comes the cruellest twist: the contestants for the next Hunger Games are announced, and Katniss and Peeta are forced into the arena once more. Unless Katniss and Peeta can convince the world that they are still lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

If a refund or reimbursement is payable to you, we will transfer the money using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase. Fans of the original trilogy will appreciate the deeper insight into the world of Panem, while newcomers to the series will find themselves drawn into the story's captivating narrative. Katniss is thrust into the heart of the rebellion as the Mockingjay, a symbol of hope for the oppressed districts. These books made the rounds through the ranks of those who were brought into the fold of readers by the success of Harry Potter, and that's the golden standard of what a story should be to them.

The book provides insight into the origins of the Hunger Games and the early stages of the Capitol's control over the districts, offering a complex and morally ambiguous perspective on a character who would become one of the series' main antagonists. He's been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

Seeing how Katniss is going to get out of one scrape after another is exciting and the three books are compelling enough reading that I finished the whole thing in about nine days.As the story unfolds, readers are transported to the very beginning of The Hunger Games, watching as they evolve from a brutal spectacle designed to keep the districts in check to a beloved tradition in the Capitol. All four books have been made into feature films, the first three starring Jennifer Lawence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks and Donald Sutherland. Whilst it has been a little while since I read these books (although I intend a reread someday) I feel confident in saying that I still recommend this trilogy to dystopian fans and teens who are looking to start reading. The romantic subplot was handled with the subtlety of mouldy porridge and the same level of emotional range. Her mother, her love interests, her friends - everyone (including the sister she apparently loves so much) are little more than cardboard figures passing through the background of her life, doing little more than complicating it.

Her characters are well-developed and relatable, with Katniss being a particularly compelling protagonist. And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me. I still encourage people to pick up The Hunger Games, but I barely give the next two in the trilogy more than a cursory mention.Fans of The Hunger Games won’t want to miss this long-awaited prequel to the beloved series, following a young Coriolanus Snow determined to prove himself as a mentor in the deadly Games. As good as the plot, the writing and everything else is, the protagonist Katniss, outshines them all effortlessly.
