Deliveries will be made subject to the terms and conditions of the courier company. djkit.com will not be held responsible for late deliveries. when I turn on the electronic drum machine, it doesn't always allow the kit to make sound when hitting the pads. the buttons make noise so I know the speakers are working. The instruction booklet simply says turn on the unit and the pads will work. Overall there are no complaints about build quality. The parts all feel solid and the screws tighten enough to hold everything in place, without giving the impression they’re going to snap off should you sneeze. Guitar and bass amps may not be suitable for an electric drum kit. Guitar and bass amps are designed for a specific frequency range. The lows and highs may not sound as good. In the meantime, let us follow the rather flimsy connecting leads from the pads into the trigger-to-MIDI converter, which rejoices in the name of the IET01. Neatly, this has been designed to be integral to the stand itself, bolting on to the lower horizontal bar. And thanks to some creative design thinking, it also provides a lipped shelf for the drum sound module to sit on. Ion even give you some self-adhesive Velcro strips to make sure it doesn't drop off.

Consider PA with an amplified mixer and passive speakers. With this speaker sound system, your electric drum kit connects to the mixer. The mixer has a built-in amplifier that provides power to the speakers. A pair of passive (non-powered) speakers connect to the mixer. My particular ambitions of becoming an unstoppable, world class drummer arose and were duly crushed in my late teens by the joint restrictions of my parents’ refusal to allow me to have a drum kit (too loud, not enough space in the house, so on and so forth) and their insistence that even if I was allowed I would have to pay for it myself. Not having several hundred pounds spare, I conceded and the dream died – having several friends in bands themselves did nothing to dull the pain.Being a drum machine means that there's more on offer than just sounds to trigger. The IDM01 has 50 preset patterns, each containing two main patterns, plus two fill patterns. If you want to make drum practice less boring, these are great to play along with. Along with the presets, there are 50 locations for user-programmed patterns. Programming facilities cover the usual ground with step and real-time input, plus housekeeping functions such as copy and delete. Finally, patterns can be chained together in various combinations to create up to 100 songs of up to 254 steps (providing you don't exceed the internal memory in the process). Conclusions There’s some manner of universal law that means that at some stage in life, we all want to be in a band. It may last a split second, or, as evidenced by the plethora of people that go on to create or join musical groups, a lifetime, but every last one of us is subject to it. Unfortunately, many who do decide to act on this impulse are generally thwarted by the constraints of reality; be they financial, spousal or otherwise.

The score so far — Yorkshire scepticism: 0, Ion IED01: 2. But it's in the foot department where the economies start to become evident. Both the bass-drum and hi-hat 'pedals' are very simple, and indeed very plastic, non-latching footpedals. This means for a start that you can forget velocity sensitivity on the bass drum, although when it comes down to playing, this proves less of a problem than it might appear. And certainly when you're using the kit simply for practice, you're probably not going to be worried about it at all. Probably of more concern is just how long the pedals might last compared to the rest of the kit. After a few weeks, the bass footpedal was prone to double triggering, though this was partly due to the fact that it requires a different playing technique to that of an acoustic bass drum pedal setup, where you will often use the beater to 'damp' the bass drum skin. T Is For Triggers One of the main roles for the Ion kit in my studio is to trigger drums within a sequencer. If you're interested in doing the same, you'll need to know that although the MIDI note assignments of the IET01 trigger inputs are fixed, they do conform to the GM spec. So interfacing with other gear or programs shouldn't be a problem. And of course most modern software allows you to assign whatever sounds you like to incoming notes. With Glaresoft's iDrum, for example, which I have in my setup, I just used the program's Learn facility to assign sounds within an iDrum kit to the different pads on the Ion kit. There is, as ever, an alternative to a conventional set of drums. Many manufacturers now offer electric kits but they have the problem of being rather expensive compared to similar quality traditional gear. If only, then, someone could manufacture an electric kit that didn’t cost a fortune but offered the experience and, importantly, enjoyment of playing a real set. The software suite also includes training modes and a drumming game, the latter which I abandoned as utterly awful within minutes. The training, conversely, was actually batter than expected; if you’ve never used a drum kit before then it makes a half-decent introduction – certainly enough to get you playing along to simple songs at least. This was a new unit directly out of the box, so I'm wondering if this is normal for this model or if I have a defective unit. (I have no prior knowledge or experience of drum units to know if this is some type of user error on my part, either)Decide if you want to use an amplifier or a PA system. You can amplify an electric drum kit using either an amp or a PA system. There are pros and cons to both options. The IDM01 and the IET01 mounted on the supplied stand, and seen from the rear, showing the system connections. If possible, go to a music shop and try out different electric drum amps to see what you like. If you can bring your drum kit (or at least part of it) with you, even better. This will let you sample what the amps sound like with your electric drum kit.

Actually doing so is a blissfully simple process. Butterfly screws and nuts (which slot into recesses on the joints) hold the poles together, and the drum pads are then attached similarly. At first it seemed like these could be easy to over-tighten, but in practice this wasn’t the case. The Discover Drums USB kit from ION solves this problem and allows you to start mastering the drums using a fun electronic medium that doesn’t take up all of your available space. This amazing piece of gadgetry has been built so anyone can play; from beginners to experts. This 4 pad kit allows you to play 26 different drum kits depending on what setting you choose. The product initially comes with 49 playable tunes for you to try out and eventually master. These first 49 beats are perfect for beginners as the LED lights indicate which pad to hit and when. This product would make a perfect gift for the music lover you know that wants to learn how to play or any drummer that wishes they could take their kit around with them! The disadvantage (if it can be called such) is that unlike more expensive kits, none of this hardware is compatible with that used by other drum hardware systems, so if you were looking to integrate the Ion's hardware with a conventional kit, then you'd be hard pushed. But for what it is, it works. And what's more, after thrashing the hell out of the pads for a week or so, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that, in spite of some initial misgivings, things did tend to stay in position once it had all been tightened up. All in all, an impressive start. This compact, low-noise drum set delivers that feel of acoustic drums and the flexibility of a great-sounding electronic drum-sound module. This complete electronic drum set fits into a fraction of the space of an acoustic drum set and comes with everything you need to get started playing. PRO SESSION DRUMS come with natural-feeling drum and cymbal pads, foot pedals for hi-hat and bass drum, all the cables you'll need, as well as a power adapter.
