I didn't find it easy reading: you "savour every moment" as it were, and I have taken my time to get through the book. I've read almost all of the biographies out there about Freddie Mercury, and I learned something from each one, but this book is the one that will make you feel like you really got to know the man behind the legend. Freddie Mercury died, aged just 45, but he left a legacy of incredible music and incredible performances.

Freddie Mercury was the most interesting and charming performer I had the bad luck to not see -I was a child when he died-. What I did experience was that I was actually hearing Freddie saying the words as I read them, which was bizarre, delightful and heart-rending all at the same time. This new edition takes the previously pieced together words of Freddie Mercury from interviews and notes and adds to it new information and words that have emerged from the Queen archives. Also, putting all of his words on a page really makes you realize how intelligent and articulate of a person he was. There were parts of this book that were clearly adapted from interviews of Freddie Mercury and you could almost tell that there was context missing, such as the question asked or perhaps something else he said that hadn’t been recorded. Even if it's just half an hour of their lives, in any way that I can make them feel lucky or make them feel good, or bring a smile to a sour face, that to me is worthwhile.

But as the pages turn, we see a Freddie Mercury gradually changing the priorities in his life to one more sedate and necessarily changed by the cloud of the HIV/AIDS virus beginning to shadow the gay community. Not only Freddie, but the whole band fascinated me so much that I did what I usually do: I jumped deep into the fandom. It was an easy read though, and I found it extremely interesting to read something from Freddie Mercury's own point of view. Unfortunately, the interviews and videos of them, in general, are very bad quality (they're so old), so I decided to read a book about them to find out more and this book is the first one I picked up.

Queen in July 1985 rehearsing for Live Aid: Brian May and Freddie Mercury, with Roger Taylor and John Deacon behind. I'll be honest here, I hadn't heard before that Freddie has an autobiography and the words his life in his own words picked my interest. As I read through it, enjoying hearing about his life in his own words, it eventually did become repetitive.

Instead of a biography, in which the subject’s life is presented in a timeline and with a set of sources by a biographer, this book is put together to be Freddie Mercury’s own words. I have no criticism for the words of Freddie Mercury himself, but the way this book was put together wasn't that cohesive and because it was taken from lots of different interviews, some parts of it were very repetitive. I look back at myself, and think oh my God, how could I have done that, wearing black nail varnish, the long hair and the make-up. I would never believe that a book would contain his actual words if it was filled with details of his sexlife or his private life. Leer este libro me supuesto acercarme más a la persona y dejar un poco de lado a la estrella, pues la sinceridad de sus declaraciones lo demuestras, como también su sensibilidad y su timidez. The book covers Freddie’s origins and history, many and various subjects in between, and of course covers the fascinating journey of Queen, all from his unique perspective. Il risultato è stato un libro che non vedevo l'ora che finisse, ma che ho comunque letto fino in fondo per rispetto del protagonista. That being said, I really did enjoy just reading his words and thoughts brought out in such a manner. What Greg and Simon have done is meticulously put together quotes from Freddie throughout his career and shaped them into cohesive chapters, so the book reads almost like an autobiography. Told across 20 chapters and 194 pages, this is Freddie’s life in his own words - delivered in his own inimitable, unpredictable, invariably funny, often poignant, and always entertaining way.

I can hear Freddie saying the quotes when I read them, his character and personality shining through . Just to be clear, this book is not a new biography of Freddie - I think we have seen enough of those. Parole e pensieri sia stato una sorpresa, perché pure nella mia refrattarietà ai dettagli biografici e dintorni, tante parole e pensieri di Freddie mi erano familiari, ma è stato bello rileggerle. As much as i love Queen band this was my first book to read about them but more about Freddie Mercury it was a brilliant book and it sounded just like him (i mean what i have seen on youtube interviews with him) . He talked so much about how important Queen was to him on so many differing levels throughout his career. Mercury was an incredibly private person, but occasionally he would explain something of his personal philosophy in a TV or press interview. It was a good concept I thought, but in execution wasn’t the book I had hoped for as a Freddie Mercury fan. Que se puede decir de Queen que no se haya dicho ya, solo se tendría que decir que ¡Dios salve a la reina!
